In the meantime, I suggest that everyone checks their webmail account as referenced in my previous posting.

    If you can.

I am one of a small number of VM NTLworld email address customers who have not migrated successfully to the new platform. Access to the POP servers (via email client) has been stopped, and on logging into Webmail, I can only see my settings and not my inbox or spam folder.

I logged the fault a week ago. Having read about others with this fault on the VM troubleshooting forum, I am not holding my breath for a resolution any time soon. Good job I only use that address for receiving my VM bill.

    Hi everyone

Im after some advice regarding virgin media, i rang retentions tonight in the hope of getting a better deal, i told them i wanted to leave, when asked why i said money is tight and i can get a better deal from sky,the reply i got was ok, ill cancel your subscription from today and i have to do the 30 day notice thing.

What i wanna know is can i ring up say in a week or 2 and say ive changed my mind and wanna stay, or have i shot my self in the foot and will that be if for me in 30 days time ?

any advice on this would be appreciated.

    thanks

    loops :)

    lol

I have done exactly the same thing today, i was told they will be sending me a free post box to return the tv and modem boxes :P

guess someone may let us know how we stand, but from reading other posts , virgin do phone you before the final date. But if they done we are canceled. Mine is the 2nd July

Not sure what you're getting at regarding capping. I'm on 10mb and I have installed Windows and all the updates and I've never been capped. I have downloaded much bigger programmes and again never been capped.

    Hi Hansi

Check this site out http : // www . virginmedia .com / help / traffic-management.php (sorry cant post links sheeesh) edit as needed

Please remember that the information is from 2009 and things have changed (for the worse for customers). It states on the site it is for the top 5% , but retentions told me it applies to everyone now!

seems to be hit your limit on your tarrif and you are capped for the next 5 hrs by 75%

Im not trying to get into an argument, and if you have never noticed the capping all well and good for you mate.

These have applied to all customers since at least 12/05/09. What it says on the site is that this generally only AFFECTS the top 5% of users. If you do general surfing etc during the throttling periods listed then you are unlikely to hit the targets.

I understand warlord's frustration, but I can only suggest that you schedule your updates to take place after 9pm so that you are less likely to hit this problem.

After ringing up virgin media on Tuesday to cancel my services in the hope of getting a better deal from them, ive just recieved a phone call from the virgin media retentions team asking why i wanted to leave, and what can they do to convince me to stay with them.

To cut a long story short they have offered me the same 20 meg bb i already have, the extra large tv package, free hd box, large phone package (i had medium before), they have cut my phone line rental by half price for the next 12 months and the £5 a month i get charged for not paying by direct debit has been cut to £1.50 for the rest of the time im with them, i get all this for £43, plus £2 for caller id which i dont mind paying, im really pleased with this as when i rang initially to get a better deal i was told it would be £61, without my caller id or non direct debit charge.

    Well done mate

Had my call today as well.

Get the 10mb M upgraded to a 10mb L (now 1.5gb before cap, this suites my needs), also same as you free HD box, no changes to phone but 1/2 price for year, extra box (current one) £5 month, and 1 month free for all then £39 month.

this involves new 12 month contract but happy for that now.

    Hi

I'm out of contract with Virgin and was wondering if I could improve on the deal below. I phoned retentions but they were very unhelpful. They said that my deal was better than they could offer new customers and didn't offer anything.

    Telephone Line Rental £11.99
    Talk Unlimited 11 £7.95
Phone, Broadband And TV Saving £-7.00
    TV Size: M £0.00
    Broadband Size: X L £37.00
    B B X L For Price Of B B L Bonus £-12.00
    E Bill Discount £-1.00

    Total £36.94

What can I do? Ideally I would like to save money, but I would also like an HD box if possible. Should I ask to disconnect and wait for the phone call? Are you able to change your mind in the 30 day disconnection period?

This is what they've done with me. Until this month, I was paying £25/month plus £1.25 for paper billing plus 0870 calls, but it's suddenly gone up to about what your bill is. I phoned and said I wasn't happy but spoke to someone who kept telling me it hadn't changed. I couldn't understand why it had and couldn't get her to understand what I was saying and ended up in tears. In the end it clicked - it's a year since I changed to them, so the £25/month must have been an introductory package to get me to go with them.
