I threatened to close my account, but the woman in the call centre didn't seem bothered. I'm not sure I've got the guts to tell them to actually close it, at least not until I've found an alternative.

I've been having a lot of other problems with my cable connection, though. Their call centre staff have told me twice that it's my modem but the man who came out to me said they keep getting lots of calls close to where I live (within 1/4 mile radius). I'm getting fed up with having to wait for the line to come back up.

I've called retentions and asked to close my account (14th July is the disconnection date). I checked to see if I can change my mind at any time and I can.

The lady was much better this time, she took quite a bit of time to look at options. However she could only offer me the following options:

    1) Drop from 20Mb/s to 10Mb/s £29.49
    2) Stay on 20Mb/s this year £35.49 and next year £38.94

She would also give me a free V HD box (3 HD channels)

I'm currently on a permenant deal at £36.94, as detailed above in #1271.

    Let's see what happens...

    Why only 3 HD channels?

I'm only the basic M package, so it's BBC1 HD, Channel 4 HD and ITV1 HD. I will get movies on demand in HD as well.

    Hi,

I'm at my wits end. Virgin are diabolical. Fact. I'm sorry if the customer care people are paid a lousy wage, but there is no reason to just treat me like a stupid kid.

I am paying £20.50 for Medium Broadband that doesn't even exist as Medium any more, it's Large. After checking their website I see that you can get it for £12.50 a month...£8 cheaper. Is it legal that they are charging me £8 extra? Crazy!

modelreject, it's only £12.50 a month if you also get a phone line with them for £11.99 p/m. Otherwise it is more expensive (I think £20) for just the broadband on its own.

Can anybody confirm if there is a notice period to cancel my services with VM? I am out of contract and want to cancel but suspect I will have to give 30 days notice.

There is a 30 day cancellation period. It gives them time to offer you a better deal and/or for you to change your mind.

I have rang them 4 times now speaking to different people and trying to explain that it is £12.50. They are making me feel stupid and deny that it is £12.50. Am I missing something? I need to get someone professional like Watchdog onto this. Charging me £8 extra is just criminal!!!!

Do you get a "loyalty" discount ? this affects how much they "say" you are paying for broadband

The way VM do their prices is strange to say the least, it seems they have a minimum payment for set packages, and no matter what discounts etc you get you always seem to end up paying the same (or very close) to anyone else with the same packages
