Hi all,
I know there was a previous posting on this forum with regards a free offer for existing customers to upgrade your tv to XL for two months. Just to let you know, it is an even better deal as I have been advised that your monthly tariff will also reduce as a consequence of upgrading. For me my tariff will reduce by £2-00. I didn't understand the reason given to me by Virgin but I have checked it with another operator and he confirmed the reduced tariff. I also have an email to confirm the reduction as well.
With XL, this means that I can watch premeiership matches on ESPN for free. Great stuff and an excellent deal as I'm sure you will all agree.
I hope this helps existing customers.0 -
I've always had XL TV and ESPN in HD is a great bonus.0

Hi all,
I am paying £30-00 per month for phone L, TV M, Broadband L. I also have V+, which was installed for free last year. As advised in a previious post, I have just taken a free offer to upgrade my TV package to XL for two months, which means that I will only be paying £27-00 per month for the next 2 months only.
I have just had a saleman come round from Talk-Talk, who has offered me for £17.50 (includes £11.49 per month line rental) 8MB broadband, 40GB download allowance, free wireless router, free install, free magic desktop for kids, free evening & w/end calls (inlcuding 0845 & 0870 numbers), free tech support and free calls anytime to other Talk Talk users.
I was wondering if anyone else had similar offers from Talk Talk and whether they have been able to use this to haggle down costs with Virgin Customer retentions. Could someone please let me know. At the moment, I am very tempted to go over to Talk Talk and just keep my V+ TV package with Virgin.

Just to clarify, Talk Talk's offer was £17-50 per month.0

I am paying £40 a month for Virgin XL broadband, M TV and M Telephone. I have been paying this for over 2 years.
My brother has just managed to get XXL broadband and XL TV plus Sky Sports and a V+ Box and M Telephone for £30 a month (£90 upfront)
How is that legal!0 -

How is that legal!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I just got my latest Virgin bill and saw that it was £30 (£23 of which was rental) for Phone and Broadband and figured I'd look for something cheaper. The problem with Virgin is that you're tied to them, you can't switch to another BB provider as you don't have a BT line. So I figured I'd get one. Talk Talk do 8MB BB and a phone with free local calls at weekends for £18.48 a month, £4.52 cheaper than Virgin. There's £60 installation for a new BT landline, though, half what BT charge, but still £60.
I rang Virgin to see if they would offer me some discount to try and keep me. The guy refused outright. He offered me 2MB BB for £18, but otherwise he just tried to slag off Talk Talk. Perhaps he realised the cost of installing a BT line might put me off, and it sort of did - £60 would take over a year to be made back in any savings.
So, I had a look on the Money Saving Expert site to see if there were any offers for new landlines and found that by ringing Simply Digital on 0800 840 5405 and saying you want to go with Talk Talk, they'll give you £60 cash back, making it essentially free. So I rang them up, talked to a really nice woman called Felicity from Hammersmith and she confirmed that the offer was still on. So I signed up and look forward to ringing Virgin back and telling them they've lost a customer.
Simply Digital also have an offer whereby if you recommend a new customer, you get a £25 Sainsburys voucher. So, if anyone here is convinced to go with Talk-Talk by this, quote CBSNL10167149-001 and I'd be grateful.0 -

I had a similar experience with Virgin when I spoke to them with regards moving my service to Talk Talk. The Virigin man woud not offer me any deals to stay with them and would only deride Talk Talk's service and package, which I was able to refute due to my IT knowledge. My view is that although I dialled the number for customer retentions, I was passed to their gerneric customer service people due to reduced staff nos as a result of the bad weather. I will wait for the weather to impove (hopefully over the next 2 weeks) and then contact them again to debate.0
