  • Hello, I am about to see if I can sign up with Virgin. As a new customer what is the best phone number to call??
    Thanks
  • well i had a go... Heres what i have got so far which seems really good. I am going to see if i can get anymore when the nice lady in the Philipines calls back...

    Broadband - M (10mb)
Phone - XL (anytime landline calls)
    free wireless router
    free install
    *1st 3 months totally free!!!*
    on 12 month contract...

    All for £23 a month - equal to £207 a year, with 3 months free. (0r £16.91 month) Not bad.:money:

When i called i mentioned that i was talking to 'talktalk'... maybe that helped??? She said it was a new deal just released...

I don't really need to have unlimited anytime landline calls - (the XL package) - i would prefer the phone L package so when she calls back ill see if i can get it cheaper... will let you all know.
    Cheers for your help.

(I got this just by calling normal sales number...)
  • what a morning trying to get this sorted!!!!
Gees, i need a week off to recover...

Well firstly the lady from Virgin Media - Phillipines didnt call back! argh... that was a little annoying but i was ok with it, maybe she misheard my phone number..

So i called Virgin back and got through to a guy in manchester....
He said no way they would match that offer and the lady i spoke to was wrong! So i stayed on teh line with him a little and he did go to the same offer with 2 months free, not the orginal offered 3! I said id have a think and call him back.
Then i called back and got through to a lady in uk somewhere, and wow - it was a tough call... I am a pretty chilled out calm person i thought but she put me through my paces a little, in the end i didnt want to get 'verbally' annoyed with her and say something mean so i just said i was gonig to leave the call and would get in touch again in the future...

anyways, at that point i thought - ill give talktalk another ring and see what they think, and wow... they came through in style.

Free line installation! thats right - got the £59.99 i would of payed (and didnt want to) knocked off, (you used to be able to get this with Simply Digital but its no longer available). So it worked out better for me and went with that, granted the net might not be as faster connection and i get less phone calls allowance - but i use my cell for most calls and dont download heaps...

    So i got

    8mb BB
    Phoneline
    Free Evening & weekend calls
    Unlimited local calls
    AND New line installed
FOR £18.74 month over 18 months contract.
    =£224.88 year

I think the lady in phili did probably offer me something she shouldnt have as ive never heard any deal like that before, unless Branson has gone for operation destroy TalkTalk...hehe:T

    Hi All,

We have been with Virgin since we moved here (about 5 years ago) our deal is coming to an end & to be honest I think we are paying way to much. We have

    Line rental £11
    Talk unlimited £7.95
    Loyalty pack -£22.50
    Tv size XL £23
    Broadband size M £20

We only have XL tv for the kids channel! & one pound reduction for-e-billing. Any advice appreciated.

For a start £20 for BB is far to high.

Can you suggest another ISP which would be as good though? £5 per week ain't that bad!

    I'm currently getting:

    TV: M
    Broadband: L
And line rental with free evening and weekend (I think) calls.

    For £23.49.

Think my initial 12 months contract is up, so is it worth trying to barter this down? What might I be offered?

We don't actually use the phone line at all (there's no phone plugged in!) but we had to take it to get a good discount, might we be able to cancel it now and still get the rest cheap?

    Thanks

    Pete

I don't know about other ISP's but there's bound to be cheaper out there.

I'm with Virgin on a similar package, when you take into account the loyalty saving you are paying just over £30 for phone, TV and a decent speed broadband.

I had SKY come around the other day saying they could save me money, when I worked out exactly what I was getting from Virgin I was actually getting more comprehensive service than I would have got for a similar price with SKY. I phoned up anyway to say I was considering switching (via their cancellations line) and was immediately offered a free V+ box if I sign on for another 12 months (well there was a £30 installation but I would've had to pay that with SKY anyway). There probably is a way of getting your services cheaper seperately if you look into it but it depends if you want the hassle or not. Its worth phoning Virgin anyway to say you are thinking of switching if you are out of contract and see what they can offer?
  • Hi everyone

I'm currently paying about £30pm for:
    Broadband: L
    TV: M
    Phone: XL

Although this still doesnt seem to be helping our bill as my dad makes a lot of 0844/5 call during the day for household bills etc which adds on extra to the phone bill

I asked Virgin media for a breakdown for all the call we had made (£18 charged for calls under 50p) and they said in order for them to provide that information they would have to charge an extra £2 (!?)

Is there anything I can do to bring the cost of this bill down?

Yes. You can ask your dad to check the 0844/0845 geographical numbers on saynoto0870.com. That should bring down the cost of the calls.
