    Hi All,

I've been with VM for years - for BB only, but recently my trusty HardDisk recorder has recently bought the farm, so I though it time to get a V+ box. I phoned and said I was going to go with Sky and they offered me:

    BB: L (10Mb)
TV: M+ (Sky 1 and some others I think)
Phone: M (Eve and W/end Free)

    Thoughts?

    Thank you all,

    Losername.

Phone M is free weekend calls only, not evening and weekends.
  • Thanks for the heads up!

Anyone got feedback on the deal? I'm going to goahead on Monday if I can squeeze a little more out of them

  • I was on a package with Virgin for £24.50ish for which I got
    10mg broadband
Home phone with free weekend calls (local I think)
TV with whatever is their smallest package.
International calls at a cheaper rate. The price I paid every month varied depending on how much I used the phone. Some months it was as much as £33.

Last week I received a leaflet from Sky (we have a Sky+ box for our main tv - Virgin one in the bedroom) offering broadband with phone rental and all national and international calls for £21

So I called Virgin and told them I wanted to terminate my package with them and transfer to Sky. A very nice Geordie lady offered me their Anywhere 400 minutes at a discounted price. This means I now have same broadband and TV but now have 400 'free' minutes on calls to use on any calls at all - landline, mobile or international calls. All at a cost of £23.45 :j:j:j
Am a very happy teddy indeed
  • Hi All,

We have been with Virgin since we moved here (about 5 years ago) our deal is coming to an end & to be honest I think we are paying way to much. We have

    Line rental £11
    Talk unlimited £7.95
    Loyalty pack -£22.50
    Tv size XL £23
    Broadband size M £20

We only have XL tv for the kids channel! & one pound reduction for-e-billing. Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks

I am currently on the VIP package and have been for nearly three years, costing £85 per month ( i think) . Would like to reduce this amout but keep the same package, any chance of VM doing it for me?
Also am looking for a wireless router which VM now give free to new VIP customers so do you think I could get one of there thrown in too?

I just spent the afternoon haggling with virgin. i was on a VIP pack at 65.50 a month for tv L broadband L and Phone M with 800 anywhere mins

just got a free N wireless router upgraded free for 2 months to XL tv pack and i also got upgraded to 20mb on internet for an extra 14.50
however i just re negotiated a deal via customer retentions and got upgraded to 50 MB with free instalation from an engineer with a £20.00 set up fee for £18.00 for 2 months rising to £28 thereafter making our total now for
    XL Tv
    XXL 50MB
    and 800 anywhere mins
£89.50 monthly in 2 months time
with free wireless router and new modem.
I am still haggling to get the free netbook with dongle thrown in:beer:
They are offering a free upgrade to existing customers xl tv for 2 months if you dont cancel it after this time the will charge you an extra 11.50
we dont pay direct debit and they waived the set up fees also, the down side is the free net book you apparently have to pay by direct debit, but we are exsting customers and we are not on the pre approved list which i think is unfair, so i complained we await the reply thanks virgin
we spend about £180 a month with you as we have 3 mobiles as well ,,,a free net book would have been a nice xmas thank you gift:rolleyes:
    i am on the case;)
  • Hi All,

I have used this thread to help me with haggling Virgin so I thought I would return the benefit.

    I have managed to negotiate:

    XL (20Mb) BB
    M+ TV with V+ HD
    L (eve and wkend) Phone

Total price is....... wait for it!! £30 a month (this includes the £11 line rental)
Not only that, I do not have to pay the £75 for the V+ box and managed to get 6 months free line rental. Therefore first 6 months is £19 a month followed by £30 a month. Also for some reason I am not tied in to a 12 month contract so I have a 30 day cancellation notice period.

    Some pointers to assist you:
    - Never say you are leaving unless you genuinely are prepared to. I did find a better offer initially with BT for phone line and O2 for 20Mb broadband. Tv I wasn't worried about since I have FreeSat.
    - If you do go ahead with the cancellation booking, It is likely Virgin will call you back again a few days later. Their deals this time for some miraculous reason are hugely better than the pathetic attempts that standard retentions usually offer you.
    - Never be rude or arrogant, always have you facts and figures of what their competitors will pay and most importantly the deals that people are mentioning on this thread.

    Happy hunting to you all!

    Hi

I have been with cabletel/ntl/VM for 15 years.

I only have a basic package with them (Freeview TV, broadband & telephone) - for which I pay £18/month.

Thats all I need. I dont need faster BB or any more TV channels.

What I would like is either to have another basic digital TV box in another room, or move the coaxle cable from the current room to another room.

VM insist it will either cost me £75 to move the cable from one room to the other; or £9/month for 12 months (+£30 installaton) for another digital cable box in the other room (even though its on Freeview)

    Seems excessive.

Any help on how to approach this?
  • Haggled, flirted and did all sort of tricky tricks and got the following package as a new customer:

    Free laptop
    V+ box/install for £50 (should be £75)
    XL Broadband
    L TV
    L Phone + Line rental

Cost is £38 pm, with no minimum term. (Inc. the laptop?! Blimey!) I'm happy with that :)
