Just got back from doctors - as most of you advised it was a bit of a waste of time other than to get into the system! She wasn't even going to review what prescriptions I take until I brought it up!!

I told her about the spotting and she didn't think it was anything to worry about but said to go to a & e for a scan if i get any more. she also terrified me by asking my blood group because of the rhesus negative factor. I didnt know so have to go for a blood test to find out and also to check for rhesus. She said not to worry because most people are positive. Text my mum and typically I'm A bloody negative!

Very stressed now, more so because she didnt tell me any risks or what problems it could cause at the moment

Oh ladies ok have just been chatted up on my way back from my lunch break , Ok he lived on the streets and was a bit drunk but hey ho. Will be leaving that bit out when i tell oh later, Ok was walking back as i said and all of a sudden heard a man say hey gorgeous from behind and did not take a blind bit of notice, after last year when a van pulled up at the light's where i was walking along and shouted out hello gorgeous and i did not hear them right and walked up to the van and " Where do u want to go" i really thought they were asking for directions. Anyway back to today and this man is then next to me saying sorry love but you really suit being pregnant and you oh is one lucky man, and shame you are not single. Ok i must admit he was drinking cider out the can and he admited he was living on the streets but he made my day.
Darling son born 10/12/09 hopefully the 1st of many :j

Yeah for Mummies. Mine was at the shops so I rang her and asked her to get me a gym ball - and here I am! I assume I just sit on it (legs akimbo?) and bounce gently up and down? Can do this all night as going up and down stairs was hurting my knees (we have very steep stairs).

Even the half hour contractions have stopped now so must bounce lots - have 18 hours to get going.....hope it doesn't pop!!! xxx

The rhesus neg thing can only be a problem in early preg if it is not your first pregnancy. If you had a baby that was rhesus positive and some of their blood got mixed with yours during preg or in labour then your body would make antibodies for that blood type so if you got preg again and the baby was rhesus positive your body might see it as an invading thing and try and attack it. I am A- and had a miscarriage last year so I got an anti-D injection when I had the D&C/ERPC (operation to remove what was there) just in case this had happened. I had another anti-D injection at 28 weeks in this pregnancy (and I know DH is A+) so that will be the other reason she asked.

She was implying it was to do with the spotting and said I should have had it done when it first started and that there's probably not much point now.

    Hi all,
I am looking into the info Glam provided the other day wrt taking calcium leading up to labour etc.

Just wondered if anyone knows if just calcium tablets alone are ok, or whether you need ones with vit D or magnesium in them too- searching vitamin websites gives so many options and I am now confuddled as to which are the ones I should get  If anyone is already doing this, which ones did you get? H&B have some calcium and magnesium ones on offer just now 100 tabs for £2.59 hence the question (500 mg Ca and 250mg Mg so would need multiples and wouldn't make the 1800 mg precisely but close enough I reckon).

The arnica tablets are more expensive and so far can only find them on H&B other websites seem to ionly do the gels.

    Thanks Ladies :D

I got the Calcium with Vit D from H&B - think it was 250 tablets. I only put 1800mg in my plan as my tablets were 600mg and 1,200mg was the RDA and I wanted more than that - it was only £3.99 in the sale but back up to £7.99 now.

Arnica - I got the 30c ones off ebay. 84 pillues for about a fiver.

Re: Calcium - I asked this question the other day and got no replies and think Glam (who will prob know) is only on sporadically now she's got her little Jack to keep her busy.

Just don't make the same mistake as I did and get one with added vitamin A The pack I bought just said Calcium and Cod Liver Oil on the front so thought it would be ok but was only when I got home I noticed the small print on the back says added vit A and not to take if even likely to become pregnant grr!! Spose I should have read it thoroughly before I put them in the trolley but was a bit stressed as Mozzers was dead busy.

ps - if someone does find out the answer please let me know as am keen to try it.

pps - Also bought Evening Primrose Oil but it says on the pack to take 6 per day for the first 12 wks to build up the chain in your body. Wasn't sure if this would also apply if you are preggers  don't want to start anything off too early.

If u put the word Glam in your post, I'll always search the thread.

EPO - I just started taking 1 a day from (i think) week 34 and then upped to 2 a day from the Monday of Week 37 (he was born on the Thursday).
I took the 1,000mg capsules so was up to 2,000mg just before i had him.
Never got round to the insertion
I have an appointment on wed so if am still herewith bump hopefully she'll give me one

    I thought Arwen was Welsh?

    It is Welsh.

Fitzio - my examination was mega painful. Not sure if it was because I was 6cm dilated or because she was rough - I was climbing up the pillows to get away from her :rotfl:

(probably shouldn't have told u all that!) ;)

Labour vibes to those that need them!

Not been on much had IL's over - but I'll always search the thread for my name so if you need me just pop my name in your post and I'll find it.

I used one in the hospital - whenever I had a contraction, I got on my knees, rested my chest against the ball with my head on my hands and rocked gently back and for. Was lovely and by the time I'd got on the floor 20secs of each contraction had gone so only 40secs to count down :D

I am Aneg aswell and have to have the anti d injections in pg, i had bleeding and wasnt offered a injection as it was early - if any bleeding past 12 weeks i would get it..... I think it depends on where you live aswell as some hospitals will give you the injection some wont.... i wouldnt worry to much if you can :)

thanks, Fitzio - glad to hear the MW appt well! You're right, I'm not usually one to get upset but sometimes there's a last straw and DH's job as been it lately and it just feels like we'll NEVER be secure and now any new job means no annual leave when baby comes...just really frustrating/disheartening to know there's no way out, y'know? Brick walls and all...I hate being stressed for the baby, too.

oh aless that's really hard :( can he take any of his unpaid 5 weeks he's allowed each year, or is that just a financial no-no?

edit, sorry just read your earlier post and realised that's a dumb suggestion, sorry!

Hi Fidget, obviously don't just take my word for it;), but I wouldn't be too concerned about the vitamin A thing. The reason it's bad in pregnancy is that when your body is building the baby's cranial-neural crest, high vit A can cause defects in it. This is all built by the end of the first trimester.

So I happily munched on liver after I was 13+3! :o

do MWs tend to offer sweeps as soon as you're past your EDD?

Sadly not where I am, the earliest they'll do is 41 weeks cos that's when it starts having most effect, with most women beginning labour within 3 days... Hope you get some action soon, thinking of you :)
