Well just back from Car Boot, was a little slow today so packed up and made off early and have the afternoon to ourselves. Still managed to make £80.10 so really pleased with that, and of course there is a lot less clutter in the house now (more room for bubs stuff hehe). Did manage to pick up a bath support (like this http://www.boots.com/en/Summer-Infant-Deluxe-Baby-Bather_868993/) for a bargain £1, its off to the inlaws tho as we already have one.

Think am gonna suggest going via tesco while we walk the dog in a mo, can pick up some ingriedients for twinks hob nobs. Been meanning to make them for ages but all this talk has me wanting them now lol.

Oh and the headache shifted once footie was over, strange! Am obsessed my bump has shrunk today too, but OH says it hasnt so I'll trust him.

Possible that your bump does look smaller if baby has changed position. Nothing to worry about though.

The hobnobs are good- I have eaten five already which is not good! Going to take some round for my Grandparents as I made about 30!

How are you all, not read back much, any of you going to pop soon, you have your section date yet Nicki ??

Booked for first thing in the morning of 24th, but my suspicion is that I might go into spontaneous labour before that and end up with an em cs. I'll be 38+6 on the 24th, and I feel that things are gearing up to get going. I've been losing my plug for the last 2 weeks, my system does seem to be clearing itself out and I'm getting lots of contractions. DD came at the end of the 37th week and DS was an elective at the beginning of the 38th, so not sure why they put me so late in the 38th week, but I have been reassured if I go earlier than this, they'll just do it no questions asked.
My feet must be more swollen than I realised as I put on a pair of sandals this afternoon and they were so uncomfortable.

Mine are hideous too! Have never had such swollen feet before, and can't get anything other than flipflops on. Which isn't a great look for chilly September!

OH has just cooked Sunday lunch for us all, which was lovely. Roast pork with all the trimmings and profiteroles for dessert (Ok they were bought not made but still lovely). Its only about the 3rd or 4th time he's done this in the 20 years we've been together but he did it really well, and is talking about doing it regularly for the next few months as I'll have my hands full with new baby plus the two I have already :j

On the food front, I made foccacia last night for the first time with garlic, rosemary and sea salt toppings. It was very very moreish! Just needed a glass of wine or two to complement it - roll on the weekend after next when hopefully I'll have had baby and be home from hospital and will be able to indulge myself. That suddenly sounds very soon...

Nicki I read that ankle swelling with pitting oedema is a good sign of things being near the end too. You probably know this but 'pitting oedema' is the type where you press the puffy ankle with your finger tips and then release, and a little depression is left for longer than on other non-swollen parts of the body. Is that what you've got?;)

It's cool that women get it though, because the body uses it to help balance out post-birth blood loss, and make that take less toll on us :)

Gisi - never dawned on me bump might have changed position, thanks. As for hobnobs think I made about 20 and am just munchin my second now hehe, think I might need to purchase another baking tray tho as can only fit 6 on at once.

Nicki - your lunch sounds yummy, I love pork, and profiteroles Mmmm! Oh and foccacia too, was it easy to make have only ever bought it before.

evening all, well what a cpl days,

had the scan on thursday if you remember about my cyst,

well, yesterday morning, got up in awful pain at 5am , well took paian killers and still not kicked in after hour, woke OH up , and said cmon we need to go A & E, got down there in worst pain ever, to be took straight round to rooms, then sent up to surgical assesment unit, the sme ward as 2 weeks ago,
been given , gas and air, morphine , cocodamal, then the gyny consultant came to see me , to be told no choce but to go in and operate , i was ina life threatening situation, it was my life they were worried about and had a high risk of losing baby, but to be honest had no choice,
they took me down theatre with lots of tears from me and my OH, knowing this could be last time i would be carrying baby,
after 2 hours in theatre , cyst drained , lots pain lots stitches from belly button to pubic bone , it was the safest way to try to save baby, the first thing i asked was , is baby ok ??? never mind me , and they said , YES, at the mo but next 24 -48 hrs are critical for mis carrying,
took back upto ward , after lots talking, was told op went well, they were glad they did the long cut rather than a small one across pubic bone , as they would of def lost baby, as my ovary cyst was behind my utearus stuck to bowels and other bits, and was at risk of bursting risking my life.
they got doppler to find baby heartbeat, and what a relief to hear it, and felt a whole lot better, had rough night with lots pain , had morphine in my bum 3 times , co codamal too,
woke up this morning cconsultant came again , and found heart beat a little slw but due to all medicaion , its expected, have lots trapped wind at mo, just had cathetta out and just got out of bed for first time, will be home in next cpl days hopefully alot better and with baby doing great.
Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec
  • Nikkit- how scary for you and OH. I am so glad to hear that baby is doing well and that you are on the mend. Your little one sounds like a fighter.

So quiet on here today. Only four posts in 3 and a half hours! Not much to report here. Picked up my Mum from the airport, popped in to my Grandparents and they loved the Twink's I took them.

Still sat on my birthing ball. Interspersing sitting on it with leaning on it on all fours to get baby to turn. No idea if it's had any effect so far, but worth a try.

    PS GISI,

I just read that sleeping position can encourage baby not to lie back-to-back, with the best position as being lying on your left hand side.

    HTH :)

  • Hi all.

Nikkit - So sorry you had to go through all of that, so glad for you both that you and baby are ok, that mustve been such a relief to hear the heartbeat.

Sorry Ive not been on much today, I have been having quite a productive day and Im so tired now!! I gave the nursery chest of drawers its first coat of paint first thing, decided to just do it white (as we had that paint :o, plus the cot is white).

Then I made us a bacon sarnie, mmm, and walked our doggies. Then I went to Tesco and spent another £10 of my double up vouchers, got some wipes on BOGOF and used some of the pampers vouchers that arrived though the post, got some baby sponges and a couple of cartons of ready mixed baby milk to keep in cupboard for emergencys (as I am planning on BF).

Then came home and gave the chest of drawers a second coat of paint (still think it needs one more yet, grrrrr). Then I got a roast started (pork loin steaks so bit of a cheat really, but did do roasties from scratch which were lovely :)) and I did some ironing whilst it was cooking. Get me!!

Like I say, I am soooo tired now though, think I have overdone it a bit really but glad chest of drawers is nearly done as really want to get it in the nursery so we can put things away and it should look more finished then :D

Nikkit - so sorry you have ended up in hospital but glad you are ok. Will keep everything crossed for you and your baby. Hopefully everything will work out well. x

Well, I now have my Isofix base in my car, and DH showed me how it clips in (it's really heavy though so not lifting it myself whilst pregnant!). Just going to leave it in the car now. The car seat is quite light though thankfully.

I keep starting jobs today, but after about 5 mins, I feel totally knackered and a bit faint so keep having to sit down. Don't really feel like I am getting much done, and feel guilty at being lazy. Yesterday was a bit the same - just kept sweating and getting really hot and a bit faint and having to sit down. I really hope this is the final stretch now.

I managed to strip the bed and wash the bedding, make breakfast and lunch (and lunch for DH for tomorrow), and clean some windows/window sills so better than nothing. I hate housework!!

    Nothing from ML today?
