Saw the psych today and have agreed to go on a low dose of meds until baby is born to try to take the edge of anxieties. Had a long discussion on pros and cons and it seems to be the right decision. The doc was also careful to choose one that is very unlikely to cause any problems to the baby or to pass into milk, and to give me the lowest dose possible, though obviously nothing is 100% guaranteed to be safe. The fact that I have less than 3 weeks to go though means that the risks are also much less. The biggest downside is that I was told I needed to stop driving until after the baby is born because I am not sleeping well and am exhausted and a side effect of the drugs can be sudden sleepiness so this would not be a good combo. I can't walk very far at the moment due to SPD and general tiredness and this will make the school run a challenge as DS's school is about 2 miles away (though as we live in London transport links are good)

In the meantime I'm trying to think of some nice relaxing treats to schedule to try to help with operation chill out and take my mind off things before the big day. Anyone got any suggestions? I've already got the obvious things like haircut, pedicure, etc on the list but it is looking a bit thin otherwise! Any ideas would be greatfully received.

Most low dose anti deps are also a pain killer, which might be good come labour time. I was on elavil for just over a year for my IC, really got me down, so I really know how you feel.

How about cosying up with a good book? If you're handy making something for the nursery? Enjoy a good home cooked meal with someone special before bubs arrives in peace.

Beenie, I always look in Tkmax for shoes, you can get some real bargains.

Does anyone else find that baby never kicks or pushes your tummy button out? The area around my tummy button always feels squidgy compared to the rest of my tummy.

My belly button is still squidgy now - sometimes if I poke it he kicks me!
So glad I've not got an outie, I was convinced I was going to get one but it's not popped (thanks God)

had a really bad pain to the left and bottom of my bump earlier - was like stitch pain and was agony! Still sore now but better from sitting down.

Can anyone recommend some shoes, preferable wide fitting, that are as comfy as Clarks but without the hefty price tag!?

I'm currently wearing primark £4 flats, and just bought a new pair in my usual size (4). Now i know you're meant to 'break them in' but they're cutting off the circulation and so sore!! So i'm gonna go on the assumption that my feet are swollen! I hope and pray i don't become a size 5 forever, cos 4 is slightly less popular and u can get shoes in the sale Lol!!

I haven't actually tried a 5 on so not sure if they'd still be too big, but i want some cheap shoes!! I know i shouldn't skimp on shoes but i'm skint atm lol.

I bought some black wide fitting flats for £8 from Matalan 2 weeks ago, they are very comfy and my feet have been swollen.

Beenie, I lived in cheap crocs through the end of my pregnancy... Any chance you could get away with them?

Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

    .

Mine hasn't popped out either, I meant to ask the other day if that was abnormal as I thought it would have down, just seems to have grown wider! Very strange.

could I wear crocs in hospital instead of slippers?

  • Yes, Glam you could. I'm thinking of taking flip flops instead of slippers, as floors can be slippy and spillages occur.
