And I am pleased you made your appointment Beenie
I have my 12 week scan on thursday, I am so nervous and excited at the same time, can someone tell me how much water I am meant to drink and how long before my appointment for the scan?
Just trying to catch up so don't know if anyone has replied yet but as you will be going soon I though I would add my bit. My hospital said I didn't need to drink anything for both my scans but that a half full bladder was probably best - it depends on the scanners they have so best to ask the hospital.Mum to DD born Oct 2009

They are talking about weening on the parents thread. Most confusing as some info states 4mths others 6mths. The department of health is also due to make new recommendations on when it should be done.
I think doing it when you and your baby are ready is the best way to go, why starve a baby for the sake of a spoonful of porridge or force feed a contented one? Each to their own.
Lets face it babies walk talk and crawl at different rates so why put a date on eating solids? Even HV's disagree on when is best.[STRIKE]Little bump 3 on it's way[/STRIKE]:j

Hi girls, just going to catch up in a min,not been on for a few days so I'm sure there will be quite abit of chatter to get up to date with!
I've had a rough few days,an awful tradgedy has happened,it's so sad, one of my best friends' husband died really suddenly Saturday afternoon. He was fit and healthy, didn't drink much, never smoked, 40years old, very lovely bloke-worked extremely hard and adored my friend and their 2 girls..there only 4 and 6 and I am absolutley devestated for them at never seing their daddy who they idolised ever again. They go to school with my son Ellis, the oldest is in his class, there really good friends, see eachother out of school ect..it was only on Friday we were joking with them that they make a lovely couple! Worse still..when it happened,my friend was out at a birthday party with the youngest girl..the oldest was at home on her own with her dad when he died. They had been playing on the wii and she was winning him so thought he was joking around, pretending to be asleep cos of that. She sat with him for 45 mins telling him to stop pretending, all the while he was turning purple. By the time the alarm was raised,he couldn't be saved.
I went over yesterday, was awful, it was breaking my heart to see her in so much pain, shattered in pieces, ripping her hair out and scratching herself in desperation. I feel so useless, and I know theres nothing anyone can do to take the pain away, only time will numb it.
Then ontop of that Ive got my dad here (some of you may remember the situation with that) and yesterday he was in a foul mood, taking it out on me,hubby and the kids-selfish bast@rd he knows whats happened with my friend. Hubby blew his top and they ended up arguing. When I got back from my friends house I was absolutley emotionally drained, and physically too as I'd not slept Saturday night worrying about her and I'd not eaten either, just lost appetite, must have been the shock? Anyway my dad had decided that we were having a BBQ without asking us what we wanted (this always happens) and got huffy when I didn't want to sit outside!!! (it was getting dark cos rain was looming and I was in pj's as Id had a bath) Hubby lept straight to my defense and told him to back off cos Im 8months pregnant, tired and have stuff on my mind- that shut him up whingeing but he was still in a foul mood-crashing stuff around, talking in a peed off tone all the time ect...The tension was building by the hour.
After tea, ds was sat with me and hubby on the sofa reading a world atlas book,we were talking about all the different counties,he was really into it and was really chatty (he's always chatty lol,he could talk all day long constantly and not tire) and all of a sudden my dad says in a loud voice ELLIS IS YOUR TONGUE NOT TIRED YET???? Well that was it,hubby boiled over..this is how the convo went..
Hubby- He's only talking!!!
Dad- Yeah but he does go on abit
Hubby- well yeah,he's talking about this book!!?
Dad- He hasn't shut up talking for ages though!
Hubby- SO WHAT!! (shouting) IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT GO AWAY!!!!!!!
Dad- Don't talk to me like that, I was only saying!
Hubby- Or you'll do what????
Dad- I don't know who the hell you think you are??
Hubby- I DON'T KNOW WHO THE HELL YOU THINK YOU ARE, you just wanna control us,make us do what you want us to do all the time
Dad- I don't wanna make you do anything, arn't trying to control noone!
Hubby-Yeah,you don't like the kids making any noise, you want them to be seen and not heard! Well anyway like I said if you don't like it GET LOST!!!!
Ds had obviously shut up talking now,was just sat there really quiet.
Hubby- (pointing at ds) see, youve got to him now,he's shut up!
Dad- GOOD!
Hubby- WHAT A FLUCKING !!!!!HOLE, come on lets go upstairs, he doesn't want us around.
We get up and walk out the room and hubby shouts HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE YOUR GRANDSON!!!!
:mad::mad::mad::mad: I'm so sick of this stress all the time he's around!!! He knows Im pregnant, and my friend (he was a friend too!) has died.
The talk we were going to have with him went out the window cos of whats happened with my friend.love my little man he is amazing :j0 -
How I am ever going to catch up on 40 odd pages since I last chatted?! Oh yeah, the boss is off for 2 days
Feeling very round now and the 1st trimester tiredness seems to be making a comeback so I expect I will sleep through the next 14 weeks (am 26 weeks on Thursday!).
My dodgy hip has made a reappearance today, I really must bin these work heels but at least my blood pressure is behaving - hope am not tempting fate now I've said that and I've a consultant appointment on Wednesday! Still having my pushchair dilema - fairly sure the best bet for us will be the maclaren techno xlr but am still umming and ahhing about the mamas and papas pramette, mainly because I my little boy will be here in the midst of winter and it looks so much cosier - any advice anyone?
Hope everyone is doing OK!0 -
I dont know what to say, other then im shocked! ((hugs)) helen xx0

Hi All :hello:,
Just a quick hello, hope you are all doing okay? Not much going on with me apart from working hard, feeling tired and generally seem to have the most wriggly baby in world in my belly!
Whenever I sit down I just watch my belly moving around - I am not sure if Jr is trying to get out or what. I just want to tell the little thing to keep still especially when mummy is trying to sleep
I am hoping to do a bit of batch cooking it will be so much easier for me and OH if we can just stick stuff in the microwave for tea in the first week when we shall both be feeling tired and trying to get to grips with the new person in our life. Any other suggestions on freezable items? I have to say though that I don't like frozen potato so shepherds pie is out.
Chilli is a definite and maybe some curry.
HELEN - BIG HUGS TO YOU. Not much I can say to help you but you know you can always come on here to rant and rave all you like.xxxx

Helen81 i am so sorry to hear about your friends husband, what a terrible shock. What a good friend you are for being their given your 8mths and really dont need the stress. As for your father well i just don't know what to say, perhaps he feels left out that everyone bar him is getting attention, you your friend then your chatty son?
I think perhaps asking then telling your dad to leave would be advisable (sorry to be pushy and out of order) but i think it may be needed. Take deep breaths and stay calm. gosh i got angry just reading what happened.[STRIKE]Little bump 3 on it's way[/STRIKE]:j
