Why "sadly"? People can be topless in their own garden if they like - it's perfectly natural. I have to put up with my neighbour's scrawny chest if I happen to look out of my window and he's in his garden. Why is it OK for men and not for women?

Sorry, meant sadly in that the OP's dad can't do much about it.
I agree it's perfectly naturally - unless they are purposefully causing offense.
  • To be honest it is her private garden - if she wants to sunbathe topless then that is really her perogative.

Its unfortunate that your dad is uncomfortable with it but I think as it is his problem and not hers - the only thing you could try would to be as another poster suggests tactfully explain your dad's feelings and appeal to her better nature - she might be receptive

In the meantime your dad will just have to avert his eyes
  • If you really don't want to speak to her a carefully worded letter would be possible but could make things worse. She might actually enjoy embarrassing your dad.

I'd suggest a nice tall trellis and a few climbers so that his view is blocked enough to enable him to ignore it.

Either that or a garden sprinkler with VERY cold water on the hotter days might discourage her.............. ;)

Or he could just invite all his mates from the local round!!! ;) A bit more of an audience might inhibit her.

Or could you find a small child who could just stand at the fence and stare in that way kids do...... and maybe ask some "innocent questions" like "why are that ladies boobies hanging down like that?" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

With a neighbour like that even I could take up gardening.

Out of curiosity. How old is your dad?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

:rotfl:But that would only work if she actually came in to Op's dad's garden wouldn't it unless he sprinkled her garden too!
:rotfl:Thinking about it the cold might actually make the problem more prominent if you know what I mean! :o

Why doesn't he just put up a fence?

The fence is a low chain link one isn't it, the water can easily "accidentally" go over the fence ;)

Might make the problem more prominent, but might encourage her to sunbathe more discretely too.

Trouble is if the lady concerned has a reputation for being mouthy as OP suggests she is more likely to get up from her sunlounger and voice her displeasure to dad re the cold water sprinkling directly - thus causing more embarrassment!:D
