At the quoted price of £399.99 you are absolutely correct, there is no chance whatsoever that it will be any good.Ha ha, you're fighting a losing battle mate.
Some people have such a simplistic view on life.... I imagine they only ever buy british cars like Rover and Ford.... oh wait a minute......
I'm not sure how any of that is relevant, but thanks anyway...
The bottom line is that you get what you pay for, as anyone buying one of these scooters will find out to their cost. But don't listen to me, there's plenty of experts like this guy who will tell you they're great. Best of luck with it!0 -
Scooter arrived today as promised my Expansys :j
It arrived on a pallet, in a large box in a metal frame, it took me a good 30mins to undo the frame and get the bike out.
The rear tyre was deflated, which didn’t take long to sort, & the mirrors needed putting on and the rear brake needed adjusting all very easy to do.
Next job to stick it on charge, the first thing you think is the mains lead goes strait into the bike, as it has a standard kettle lead socket, but no you have to use there charger (which is fan cooled). IMO I think this is a bit of a mistake using this connector.
After a while I switched on the ignition and it was totally dead, then i remembered seeing a circuit breaker switch under the seat 'DOH' it was in the off position, switched it on and we had power, unfortunately with this switched off it was not charging !
Left it for a few more hours and too it for a shot run (off road of course), it goes quite well, quite torqy , the Speedo showed me reaching 45mph:rotfl:, It didn’t feel like 45, I had me phone with me and put the sat nav on and tried again 27mph was the max I got. Now im 6'2 ft and weigh 16 stone so it isn’t bad. I tried it on a medium slop and it pulled me up it no problem.
Built quality I would say is OK its very similar layout to the petrol Chinese scooters.
Brakes work well,
Has locking under seat storage, Not quite big enough for my full faced lid.
Has twin front side, dipped and main beam lamps etc.
I have had a good luck around it and I found partially hidden 'multi turn preset' near the regulator box which im hoping may be its speed restrictor. I shall have a play one I get it insured and registered and on the road.
So all in all i think at £406 delivered its good value (as long as its reliable)0 -

Is the item you have purchased exactly the same as the one in the link in post number 1 of this thread?
Also, what is the situation with insurance? Does it need insurance etc?0 -

Thanks for that. I was looking at the links from the site in post 1 and somebody is saying that although it's advisable, that insurance isn't an absolute requirement. Have a look here:

No this scooter definitely needs registering with the DVLA & insurance to use on public road.
Smaller scooters are be the ones restricted to 15mph, this one is the same classification as a 50cc moped0 -
