I too got an email to say I had subscribed to it (accidentally while checking off the offers)

And do you know how easy it is to "accidentally" subscribe. It only takes the click of a pop up box, even if it's an attempt to get rid of it. Whether it's easy to cancel or not is irrelevant IMHO, autosigning and any form of opt out is a despicable practice.

Arent they trying to outlaw the practice of autosigning, from "opt out" to "opt in"?

Here Here, the reason why it's so cheap is because they have all these offers for you to scroll through. No sympathy for people who don't read the small print I'm afraid.
I think youll find there are a lot of people on the forums , who read all the small print, and still got scammed, they all have my sympathy from a company that needs to hide an "opt out" to gain customers.

That's what I thought as well, I'm sure there's certainly something with the introduction of the EU anti spam laws but I'm not sure. (I'm certainly no lawyer :D ). I think the grey area in the case of a pop up and clicking on it is that altough common sense and a normal person would say that's practically an opt out I don't know how the law would consider it. I'm thinking of the recent MBS billing fiasco of them crippling your pc until you paid for your "!!!!!! access" and signing up was merely the act of clicking on a website. I suspect it may end up be brought down to test cases in court and setting precedent to clarify what's illegal and what isn't.

But illegal or not I think it's immoral. I've not been caught out myself but the very fact so many posters on here have ended up paying subscriptions they didn't consciously sign up to indicates underhand practices or shoddy customer interfacing at the very least. It's certainly not good customer service in my book to make it so easy for a customer to make a mistake such as this. So if it's deliberate, they're being devious, if it isn't they've got poor customer relation skills and they're lazy (lazy because they are well aware of people making these "mistakes" to the extent of it being on national radio consumer programmes and yet haven't changed the customer interface in years).

    Hi everyone,

I know there are a lot of fake ways to earn your hard earned money back from Vista Print Rewards (Clubprem.com, VPrewards etc) but I genuinely have a 110% positive solution to the problem.

I know it works because I had £316 taken from me and I have recieved every penny of it back but only because I took 3 vital steps towards doing it....if you want to know how e-mail me *REMOVED* and I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can with my specially set up forum for ending the nightmare anyone has with VPrewards.

I was so disgusted with what happened I thought I'd do my bit back at them by helping every other victim.

I promise all of you my solution DOES work and I will help you as much as I can.

Thankyou, hope to speak to you soon

  • I too have been caught out by this "rewards" membership after buying business cards online. In total VistaPrint Rewards have taken £308 from my account since April 2007.

I have been through everything; trying to claim it back through my bank by filing a fraud report but as the membership money comes out of your account as an agreed payment and not a direct debit, the bank cannot do anything. I've attempted to contact VP Rewards to no avail and gone through The Office of Fair Trading who then referred my case to Trading Standards, who advised me to take the claim to a Small Claims Court, which is the stage I am in the process of currently.

I found out on the internet that Vista Print is the 4th highest grossing printing company in North America and in 2008 Vista Print made a profit of $27.6 million in these "membership" fees alone!

The Office of Fair Trading have raised concerns with the company requesting that they make the banner stating "Free membership" more obvious to customers.

Steer clear of this company people! It's easy for people to say "you just didn't read the T&C's" but Vista Print's website is laid out in such a way that it seems almost impossible to see what you've just signed up for.

I hope to have a successful outcome to this court case and hope that no-one else uses Vista Print ever again.

Have you been to small claims court yet?
  • I was just reading today about a few people who've been caught out with a monthly fee they didn't know they'd asked for, but then a friend has just had something printed from them and was very careful about what he paid and what he was doing and was very happy with them. I was going to use them myself but am a bit wary of it now...
  • god don't do it trust me ! once you fall into their trap you will have god knows how much money stolen from you !

I had this offer in unsolicited email.

For that reason I (reasonably) assumed there must be a catch.
