  • Not sure if they haven't made use of the furniture and want to make more use of it in the space of two weeks? (especially if didn't sell for much... only suggesting, please don't be mad! )

Or they could be packing for their holiday and need to get things sorted?

If you or you have a friend that has a contract with free minutes, perhaps could call them?

Just think it through...you asked him to name a date which suited him. He has done this and prefers you to collect when he gets back from holiday. It may not be convenient to collect before he goes away; the lead up to a holiday can be a busy time.

But he hasn't named a date or time has he? This could go on for weeks and weeks.

Why would you list something to finish a week before you go on holiday if that would be inconvenient for you?

And honestly - if he'd said buyers wouldn't be able to collect the item for at least three weeks after the auction ended I would have thought that was abit strange if no explanation was given and I would probably not have bid.

call and speak to him , may be he wants to arrange something quicker.

Spend a few pennies and communicate - then you'll know where you are.

You're making things difficult for yourself.

Honestly, you think "Name your time and place and we'll fit round you" is being difficult?

And there was me thinking that him refusing to do that and just telling me to call him over and over again was the difficulty!

I am probably being a bit resistant to the idea of calling him as well because I used to have an eBay stalker and he started exactly like this - refusing to deal by message and insisting that I call him.

No offence OP but why dont you just ring him, hes asked you to ring him to arrange a suitable time to collect, if you ring him you maybe able to agree to collect before he goes away

when i buy something on ebay thats collection i always expect to have to call the seller to arrange collection and a number is the first thing i ask for. just as when i sell an item i emal my number to the buyer (collection only items) and ask them to give me a ring.

Nope, it has to be the same price as you are not to know where the person is situated with a mobile. It will end up costing him to answer the call.
it costs you the same to ring him if he's either stood beside you or if he is on the other side of the world - as op said he picks up the extra if he is abroad. tbh, unless you want to keep sending emails back and forth I would just ring him, it's only 7p a minute on BT now to call a mobile and its only going to take a couple of mins to arrange a time.

Blimey - well I've learned something today then! Thanks guys. :T

How big is the furniture? Why don't you ring him and say u need to lend van/car off mate and need to know exactly when. If he was posting it to you you could start a dispute after 7 days so he's not being reasonable in making you wait, i'd be highly peed off.

Stalker worries notwithstanding why do I need to call at all?

He can type. Ebay has a messaging system

We've said we can come at absolutely any time to suit him - just name it.

All he has to do is type a time and place and that will be that. But for some unfathomable reason he's refused to do that several times now.

The last 5 items of furniture I bought on eBay I sent a message right after purchase asking when to come and collect and the sellers messaged back with a time and place.

We messaged back a "we'll be there" and that was that. it took 3 free messages.

I've told him I prefer to communicate by message so why would someone refuse to answer the one question I need him to answer and just keep telling me to ring him?

Cheers honey. I just don't want to ring him at all. My previous stalker was so scary and took so much time and emotional energy from me that I just can't risk it starting all over again.

And I think refusing to answer a quick question and insisting that I phone him over and over and over again is odd - and a bit worrying to someone oin my position.

Or to any woman I would imagine. I am going to be required to go into his house to collect the item so I definitely don't want to be doing that with a guy that already freaks me out!

Maybe because he wants to discuss when you can collect, your sat here complain about a seller being unreasonable and moaning he wont agree when to collect when you cant even be reasonable and give him a ring as hes asked you too many times from what you say above! just give him a ring, maybe he likes to actually speak to the person hes dealing with! Ive sold and bought a lot of collection items and only ever had the initial communication via email and the rest via phone!

You cant complain the sellers being unreasonable when you cant be bothered to ring them! or why not give them your number to ring you!!!

if your as desperate for the item as you sound and are making out then why are you so set against not ringing and arranging collection with the seller.
