I know! And it's nearly car insurance time which I always look forward to! Or maybe I shouldn't admit to that...Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -
£20 for a denim skirt is excellent, they don't ever go out of fashion and can be dressed up or down so you will get loads of wear. :TDeclutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Yeah, I've needed a new denim skirt for ages, but hadn't found one I like. I love it
Other news, I've ordered some of my Tigi hair product half price from cheapsmells through quidco. Otherwise, I've been tidying and cleaning - boring, but necessary.

Forgot to mention it earlier, but other progress - I set up another sharesave at work. I don't save much, but set one up every year. I started doing it because I was scared my car would die and I'd end up with a loan to buy a new one. I will probably still need a loan, but at least a smaller one.
Also, subscribed to Glamour magazine yesterday. I buy it every month anyway and it's £9.90 for 10 months plus you get a free Benefit lipgloss and mascara. That along with the other free mascara's earlier this year means that I shouldn't have to buy mascara for years!

Wow, that's a real bargain. You'd pay a tenner for the Benefit stuff alone. was this just an offer in the magazine or through somewhere else?I've got my own flat :j:j

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good. Works out 99p per issue (vs £2 I think, in the shops) with free Benefit stuff too. I had a letter about it a while ago and didn't do anything about it. Clearing out some paperwork yesterday, I saw it again and decided to go for it.
Have looked at the last few posts of mine on here and realised a lot of my 'progress' seems to involve spending money at the moment  I think I'm going to try and make October a quiet month where I save, get myself organised and make some real progress with things.

I'm here to report some small steps of progress. First of all, the good news...
I got accepted for a Halifax card, for which I will get £20 cashback through quidco. This card will also give me the option of transferring my overdraft onto it (at 0% initially) to move my bank account to First Direct for £100. Still thinking about that one though.
Other news - £45 paid from quidco this month. Woohoo!! That's gone straight to the Barclaycard. That's the money from taking out Vanquis and Bank of Scotland cards and not using them, just for the quidco money, so I can cancel those now.
Can't remember if I mentioned it or not, but the £40 for nothing from Be Broadband has now moved to 'validated' on quidco, so hopefully one step further towards genuinely free money
Did some Tesco online shopping with a code earlier this week. I love online shopping. Less temptation to buy extra cr*p I don't need, easier to figure out what I actually need cos I can nip to the cupboards and look and I can sit on the sofa with a cup of tea whilst doing it! I need to just buy what I definitely need for the rest of the month, cos I seem to have enough toothpaste, shower gel, bleach and breakfast cereal to last until Christmas I reckon.
Sorted out new car insurance today. Got a good price I think from Hastings Direct, cheaper than my renewal and the best I could find without spending days searching. I get £55 cashback through quidco and will get a £30 fuel voucher and a voucher for a half price MOT. Awesome
Now, the bad news...
Last month was expensive, v.expensive. I need to have a much leaner month this month. I need to use what I have in and try not to buy too much else. I'm starting to think about Christmas - possibly a little premature I know, but I might start thinking about some presents soon to try and spread the cost a little. I do save a little each month in an account for Christmas costs, but predictably it's never enough. Plus I have an extra family birthday around Christmas this year.
The other bad news, is that part of the reason for my expensive month is that I have spent too much on clothes. I've gotten a little carried away with the idea of 'birthday money' clothes and the new autumn/winter stuff which I love. Most of it has been ordered over the internet with codes, but I've still spent waaayy too much. I did mention earlier that I love online shopping, didn't I? I'm having a trying on session later and if I don't need it, love it and it isn't great value for money, it's going back. What I really need is a comfortable home to live in and some freedom with my finances, not 5 new tops when I already have loads.

Hi Gwen....
Lots of positives there!!
Ya can't beat the 1st of the month to get everything back on track again. Good idea about the new tops :A
Well done on getting all that free money from quidco.
Good luck for October.
P.s.... It's NEVER too early to think about xmas lolInitial Debt July 2020 - £6,772.80
Debt now Jan 2021 - £6,208.21
Overpayment pot - £00 -
Hey Gwen
I know what you mean about online shopping. So easy to just click away!
All that Quidco sounds really good though and sounds like a fab deal on the car insurance.
I'm planning Christmas already, it's such a big financial expense and I'd rather spend December going to parties and drinks rather than battling down Oxford Street with a billiion heavy shopping bags!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
