I'm sure I saw a Gwendoline???
I think you're right. So that's four...I know what you mean, I think where you live can be really important and make such a difference to you.
I'm pretty jealous of you even owning something (even if it does need a bitlot of work!) I feel like I'm gonna be renting for ever!
I know, another reason why I feel like a fraud on hereI know I'm really lucky that I was able to buy something and I was able to get a house at quite a young age. I did make a big mistake though and paid too much for it. I had no idea it needed the work doing to it that it did, nasty surprises kept on coming... I've been ready to flog it for next to nothing many times, just to get rid of it, but I knew if I did that, it'd take me ages to be in a position to be able to buy again. I have to confess to being a bit pig headed at times aswell - as in 'This house won't beat me...grrr'.
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -
Gwenister,:T:T Maybe I can nag you about DIY/decorating?
Good plan - when I remind you about matched betting on Monday could you please order me to finally recycle the mountainous pile of newspapers and magazines that have migrated to the spare room over the last few years? Ta.I've redone my bathroom since I moved in and my spare bedroom, but I really want to get my bedroom done and the kitchen (expensive).
Slightly more complicated story with my place but basically the bathroom, kitchen and living room are done, the house has been rewired, and I had a garage built. I thought it would be better to leave the bedrooms till last as they only need plastering and decorating, but I underestimated the psychological effect of sleeping in a room that's not finished so I should have done that before the garage really.I used to go out after work (usually to the shops ) rather than going home, because I just didn't want to be there.
Yep I know that feeling, just swap pubs/clubs/restaurants for shops..!This is the conclusion I've come to. I don't want to die alone in this cr*p house...*dramatic sob* He, he!
When I was newly single I went through a phase of thinking I was going to fall down the stairs or something and no one would find me for months. What a nutterThis plusnet thing looks good. Apart from the cashback, I'd save 7.50/month (sorry I really need to convince my keyboard I'm not American), which I like and you say they're reliable.
I am quite a geek so let me know if there's anything I can help with.
Re the keyboard, I noticed you typed "pounds" earlierIf you do this:

... what country does it show in the boxes? This is why I hate sorting out phone/broadband/TV deals. It gets sooo complicated. At the moment I have freeview, which I'm happy with. I want to reduce BB and landline costs though and get mobile broadband, which I originally thought I would only use when I'm away, but now I'm wondering if maybe I should just get mobile BB and use that .
It's quite a lot slower than home broadband though, and can drop out completely depending on how good mobile coverage is where you are. Maybe try it and see how good it is, if you're going to get it anyway?
The places that you go when you go places don't have wifi access do they?On the plus side, I'm already saving money on my calls to Australia as I've found some numbers on this website that I can dial for 0.5p/minute :T.
Is that 18185? That's why I think it's worth keeping BT, as it's more complicated using things like that with a Virgin phone line.I have to confess to being a bit pig headed at times aswell - as in 'This house won't beat me...grrr'.
That's good though - better than giving up :T.0 -
Right, I'm being lazy...again . I'm putting some choons on and not coming back on here till I've done something productive.Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0

Hi!
I have no landline in my flat to save money, just a mobile contract with free calls to landlines (Orange £12) and mobile internet (Three £15 for 15GB). I don't do anything like online gaming or watch iPlayer as I am worried about going over the allowance, but I am online for several hours a day and so far never got close to the download limit. I don't find it slow, and have only lost connection a handful of times.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Gwen - that sounds like a good start on your house. There is nothing worse than a nasty bathroom, so glad you have that sorted. Hopefully the house has now given up all its dirty little secrets, and you can fix them as and when you can.
I am sure you made a better buying decision on yours than I did on my first house. The man I bought it from had Christmas tree lights all around the walls (because "when it is dark, it is meant to be dark"), a stereo deck in the bay window with Barbie, a robot and Scooby Doo all spinning round bearing signs saying "battery farming is cruel" (don't disagree with the sentiment, but there are ways and means...), a spy hole through to next door (which the lovely neighbours and I discovered one drunken night, much to our amusement), and a habit of using newspaper instead of loo roll (discovered one traumatic Sunday morning and involving a visit from the emergency drains people).
Hope that makes you feel at least a bit better... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hey Gwen
I thought of you today as I was entering a competition and thought I should give you the details as seems right up your street!
I get the Elle magazine weekly emails and every week they have a fab competition for clothes, make up or other fab stuff and it is super easy to enter.
This weeks is £250 Oasis shopping spree and when you enter you get a 20% off code for oasis online.
I enter all the time but not won so far....but surely my luck will change????!!!
PM me if you would like the code without entering. (I don't think your supposed to post codes???)
I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0
