Hello
Hairdressers was good, feels so much better now. Night out was also good, but I have some sore feet from my shoes!
That concert looked great, didn't it Bowski? I wondered how people got tickets for that...
I'm not sure about tenacity Lula, more determination to get that £50!! Once it's all moved over and I've got the cash in my pocket I'm thinking of moving to First Direct for £100. I think I read somewhere that if you leave FD within a year, they give you another £100, although I might be wrong on that one. If they do I may move again next year, blatant tart that I am
Feeling a bit stressy this morning and I'm not entirely sure why. My mind is whirring with a billion thoughts all at once and doesn't cope too well with it allI think the problem is that I've realised how close Christmas and of course, 2010 is. I had a savings target that I wanted to meet this year. It would be enough money to get my bedroom and kitchen renovated. Now I'm not entirely sure of the balance of my ISA as I haven't had a statement from IF yet, but I think it's somewhere around 70-75% of my target. I also wanted to be rid of my credit card and that isn't going to happen
I guess I just wanted to be further along than I am and it's scaring me how fast the time is going
I have an insurance claim ongoing which if it pays out like it should do, should send me almost £1k, which I will put towards my CC. If the council tax re-banding goes in my favour and they back-date it, I will get a cheque from them. I would put that into my 'house renovation savings' and that would bump that total up a bit. Both of those are big 'if's' though. They may not come to fruition. In the case of the insurance claim they SHOULD do, but until I have the money in my pocket I can't bank on it. I guess I'm just thinking that if neither of those things happen I'm nearly at the end of 2010 still with a long way to go...
I think all this 'thinking' has gotten me thinking about my mortgage. I'm on the SVR at the moment and I've been umming and aahing about whether to fix again or not for a while. I'm not sure I want to be tied to a fixed rate for the next 2 years, but if I did, I could save quite a lot of money, get the house done up sooner and possibly rent it out if I decided to move. Argh! I need to sit down and think about that.
The other thing that's playing on my mind is that I'm away with work this week, which I hate  I've got loads to do and I resent going away for work because I end up losing my evenings. I'll try and look on the bright side though because I will be heated, fed and watered for 3 days.
Sorry for the massive stressy post, might be back later with a 'to do' list.

Ok, I'm not sure why, but I feel totally defeated today. I really just want to sit and mope/cry, but that's not really going to help anybody, is it? Instead, I'm posting a 'to do' list on here and I will try and get as much done as possible, particularly as I didn't get much done yesterday . The house is really getting me down at the moment, so a lot of it will concentrate on making it feel a bit nicer to live in. Ok...
1. Sort post - Done
2. Empty bins - Done
3. Tidy living room - Mainly done
4. Sort out pile of kitchen catalogues - Not done
5. Clean kitchen floor - Done
6. Write packing list - Not done
7. Washing - Ongoing
Back later

PS. How do other people store all their paperwork? I've been keeping it in folders, but that's not very successful. I have loads of it, house paperwork, car paperwork, bank statements etc, etc. Admittedly I need to have a clear out, but I'm still going to have loads. I've seen one of my friends has a wooden filing cabinet type thing from Ikea which looked good. I looked on the website though and it was quite expensive really - £79! :eek:Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -
Hi Gwen
Hope you're feeling more in control now? I store my paperwork in a lovely, flowery lever arch file and am pretty ruthless about chucking out of date stuff outSometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
Hi Shoe Gal
No, I wish I didI've sorted out almost all of my post, emptied the bins, done some washing (more in), tidied the living room up a bit. Everything is a bit better, but I can't shake off this feeling. I suspect hormones are at least partly to blame  and I really don't want to go away this week. I just want to stay here and get on with things.
I know I shouldn't feel this bad. I was talking to somebody last night who seemed so impressed that I had my own house and how long I've had it. I know I should be proud that I've achieved that, but she wouldn't envy me if she could see it!! It sometimes feels like I'll never sort this place out and I'll be stuck here forever. I'm ok normally if I can get on and do things, anything really that makes me feel like I'm making progress, but I've got to go away this week, which will wipe most of the week out.
I think I'm going to watch some SCD on iplayer whilst eating satsumas.

I know what you mean - my previous house needed so much doing (new roof, new windows etc - all major stuff) that it was just overwhelming
In the end I decided to sell to a developer and pay my ex-husband off. I now rent but with little chance of being able to buy again in the foreseeable future I'm not sure I did the right thing
Although, as I now live in a new bulid apartment, which is very low maintainence (most stuff is down to the landlord) I feel a lot more relaxed - so was a good move in that respectSometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
Fortunately my roof and windows are ok, but it's damp and overwhelming is exactly how I'd describe it. Argh! So expensive and messy to sort out. I'll get there though, I have to. I've been very, very close to just selling this house to a developer... anybody... for however little money, just to be rid of it. I feel guilty for feeling like that though. So many people would love to have a house, any house...hmm...
BBC iplayer is downS0d it, I'm opening the chocolate orange.
Right, I need a plan. This week, I'm not going to be able to get much done, but after that I want to get my Christmas cards written and my Christmas shopping done, get this living room decluttered (getting there ), sell my 'to be sold' pile of stuff which is accumulating and start matched betting. There, that's a plan

If you find a way of sorting out paperwork let me know....I've got a number of different files and things but I find it hard to work out what to keep and what to throw.
I'm also a great one for cutting things out of mags and papers - holidays I'd like to take, furniture I love, books to read, that kind of thing and should get a decent filing system for those kind of things sorted...hmmmm...I need to do my 100 list again like Sarahb and that is going to go on it!
The only thing that is more or less organised is recipes as my sister bought me a recipe file a couple of years ago for Xmas and it is great for filing all those recipes I cut out of mags or from the back of food packaging....I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Gwen, I really feel for you, it must feel like a never ending task at the moment, but remember that every step is a step in the right direction and you will eventually get your house exactly how you want it and it will all be worth it.BBC iplayer is down

make up, the best think to do is to get a board and put your favourite things on there and hang it up in your room so you see it every day, I have a board with the type of furniture I want, the type of house I want to live in, hairstyles I want, places I want to visit, etc. It's an idea I copied from the dvd of the secret and it is nice to see every day, it makes me think, "One day that will be mine.":DPay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0
