Did you get one, makeup? Did you figure out what it is? I still haven't read the leaflet that came with it, so am still none the wiser :o

Made a little bit of progress...put my old mobile into love2recycle and they are sending me a pack to send it off in and have been researching appealing my council tax band. It looks like I should have got a good case, so I'm just debating writing a letter or calling. Calling seems easier... I don't really want to spend quite a bit of time writing a letter and have them just replying 'You've been there longer than 6 months....' and then I have to write another letter  Hmmm, depending how confident I'm feeling I may call tomorrow.

Onto another important phone call though...I called NW again today. I don't think I've ever heard 'text speak' actually spoken before  He was *slightly* more helpful than the yoof yesterday though, but admitted he couldn't answer either of my questions  I have to call up tomorrow between 9 and 5 when the adults right department are in the office.

Not much other news, desperately holding on for payday. Am really very skint  Must get on with this bank move/council tax appeal, then go show that donglemouse how you really do this matched betting malarkey, ha, ha! :rotfl::rotfl:

Sorry didn't get back to you about pigsback. It's kind of like a cashback site but ya get points instead and then can convert the points for certain rewards. I joined up to it about 18 months ago but only started going on the site daily since August this year and have already had a CD (mika) which I used as one of DD's b'day presents and a £20 amazon e-voucher which I will be using for christmas presents. I got points for signing upto a free trial on lovefilm, signing upto bingo sites which I have since withdrawn £13 from doing the free daily scratchcard and have £7.20 so far on another site I'd signed upto for the piggypoints. I don't know if they still have them same offers on though but it's worth signing upto, you've nothing to lose.
Aso each day they have a quiz where you can try and win 3000 points, there's a thread on here with all the answers on and the links to them, it's really really easy. I've never won a quiz yet but a few of them on that thread have won a few times.

I think I'd ring up about the c/tax band too, they take long enough to sort anything out as it is, I think writing to them would take even longer!! I hate having to deal with the council or CSA it's quite stressful just thinking about it  Good luck!!

God how wierd is it on on here without Lula  I well miss her posts!

Hoping tomorrow will be 3rd time lucky for you contacting NW!!

Lol, I think that's a distant dream to be honest, but I think I can do the MBing when I put my mind to it  and whatever I manage to make is more than I have now, so it's all a bonus. How are things with you Bowski? I've been seeing awful pictures on the news of flooding in Cumbria. Hope you're ok!

I called NW again and got through to a girl who tried her best to help me. She told me that my DD's and SO's would move over in 2-4 weeks (how long's a piece of string, eh?) and that I'd have to move my salary myself. She managed to tell me this info without going through to another department which twice previously I'd been told I'd have to do  She couldn't be more precise on the transfer dates without going through to the other department though, the line was busy and I was at work, so not really meant to be sat on the phone sorting out personal matters, so I had to give up on that after a little while.

I get paid next week. It's going into my A&L current account. The problem is I'm not sure which account my DD's etc will leave from. I've basically raided all my accessible savings, which are my account for car expenses with HSBC, my account for Christmas costs with A&L, my house savings 'filter' account with A&L - I use this to put money in for the house, but let it accumulate a bit before I shift it over to my ISA so that I do have a few hundred of more accessible savings in case of emergency. That lot currently totals £879. I need to work out what my DD's etc add up to. The additional problem this month being that Scottish Power are due to take an extra £139 for that electricity bill just after payday. I was going to cover that with my 'house savings filter' account for the moment, but now that is covering my NW account, so I think I'm going to have to keep a v.close eye on my accounts over the next week or so (not helped by the fact I am away on a course for part of next week..b*gger) and hope for the best really. Grrrr at Nationwide :mad: I'd better get my £50 after all this. I don't understand why they don't move your salary and co-ordinate it like A&L did. After this and the customer service I've had, I'll be moving my current account again as soon as possible and never going back. They should put on the application form 'to proceed with this application, you will need to be able to cover two bank accounts for your DD's and SO's' because not everybody would be able to do that :mad: Anyway, rant over. Hoping for the best with it all.

Haven't called up about my council tax yet. I've been doing a bit more research and it all seems to support my case....I can't believe how many houses around me, many of them bigger than mine are a band lower  My main concern is they may just say 'You've been there longer than 6 months....tough'. Need to work on my arguement for that. I might do some more research on here about how people have managed to get their council tax band changed.

I'm glad Lula's back, I missed her posts too :D

Ok, I've done my sums and my DD's and SO's for this month are over £1k :eek: I only have £879 - b*gger. I'm racking my brain to think where I could get the rest of it from, but I'm loath to remove it from my ISA's. I think I'm going to call NW again and see if they can firm up the dates they gave me and I'll inform them that if I go overdrawn on that account because of their 'transfer process' I won't be paying any charges.

Not sure if I've had too much caffeine or what, but rather than doing more research about my council tax band, I found myself picking up the phone and calling them! The bloke sounded very helpful. I didn't encounter the resistance I was expecting. He said they would do a 'band review' that would typically take 3-4 weeks. He said they may need to come out and view the property and they'd let me know if they did and I'd be informed by post of the outcome. It really was soo easy. If anybody's thinking they might be in the wrong band, just call up about it, so easy. Now I've got to hope they agree with me that my house is in the wrong band. I'm not sure how they can justify not dropping my band though when there are houses bigger than mine in the band below!? I'll just wait and see and try not to get my hopes up :o

The other news is I'm slightly gutted. I saw a thread on Sunday about being able to use multiple discount codes on the Oasis website. Feeling like carp on Sunday and not much good for anything, I didn't order anything. Now there are people on that thread who used anything up to 5 discount codes and got over 60% off !!! I could have ordered the long grey cardigan I've had my eye on and some jeans. I'm so stupid. Gutted :(

    Hey Gwen

Well done on getting the council tax band started. Sounds like you have a strong case - I'm sure a colleague got hers rebanded and she'd lived there a while so hopefully that won't be a problem with your claim.

Oh well, I know annoying about Oasis cardigan but at least means you have more cash to move around during your A&L tribulations.....
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

:T Thanks! The guy wasn't resistant at all. I did mention how long I've lived here and he didn't say anything, so I assume it's not a problem. I bet they get more calls/letters than ever though. Before websites like this, I guess it'd be difficult to find out if you might be in the wrong band and how to challenge it.

I was annoyed about the Oasis codes, but I just have to let it go. You know me though, love my clothes!

Hmm, the bank move is turning out to be a bit of a pain. I'd really better get my £50 after this. I spoke to a helpful guy there yesterday (seems to be hit and miss with their customer service...). He said that he was almost certain no DD's/SO's would be moved for at least a week and a half. That means most of them should come out of A&L this month, which is fine because my salary is still going there. He put a £500 overdraft limit on my Nationwide account with an interest rate of 1.45%. That's there 'just in case'. It does annoy me that NW would just get money from me for all this if all my DD's/SO's were to come out of that account, but I think it's easier than dealing with bounced payments/charges etc. Still  though.

I'm getting my hair cut today, which I can't wait for. It's been too long now, it feels too long, all straggly and a bit out of condition. Going to get a good cut done and it'll take me right through the Xmas season :D

Out tonight for my friend's birthday, so have some goddessing to do. Also, have post to sort out, bins to empty, tidying and cleaning to do.

I found a load of CD's yesterday that I haven't listened to for years and looking at them probably never will do again, so I need to look for the best way of selling those, but probably not till next week as this week's going to be a little hectic.

Right, better get another coffee and get on

  • Hi Gwen...I'm good thanks.. having a cosy night in. Got in my pj's watched a bit of Xfactor and now watching Children in Need rocks Royal Albert Hall. Mika's on at the moment I love him, he's fab! And although I don't fancy him I do think he's gorgeous!

What an absolute nightmare NW are being. I feel very  for you, how frustrating them not being able to give you dates so you have some idea where you stand with DD's. I'm sure it'll all work out but it just shouldn't be like that! As you say not everyone has spare money to cover both accounts and not everyone has internet access to be able to keep a eye on what's going on! I really really do hope you get your £50 !

Hope you're having a fab night and you don't suffer too much in the morning! And I hope you get to do plenty of perving
