Well done for saying that Dippy. I can now see how this thread can cause inevitable problems. So I'm off back to the Arms (in my see through Chiffon
) I kind of feel more at home there. Thanks guys for your advice.

The thread itself didn't cause problems; the ew factor could have done, the fat attack certainly did. Whatever floats your boat but the Arms might be more appropriate.
Take Dippy with you.

Shall I attempt to get us back on topic? Or go hide under the desk?
Anyway, thought of more useful stuff.
If you wear white shirts invest in a good flesh coloured bra. Not only does this mean if it's slightly sheer no-one is looking at your nipples, but also if you get caught in a downpour you won't have truckers honking their horns at you because you were mad enough to wear a black lacey bra that is now completely visibleI know this one from experience and am currently looking for a good flesh coloured bra because of this
On the subject of shirts again, buy at least one that is properly tailored to your shape. This isn't a problem foor everyone I know but if you have a large bust it really is a worthy purchase. Bravissimo do some great ones and because they are shaped to fit a larger bust you never end up with the gaping two buttons look that just ruins your outfit. (Plus you won't have to worry that a button will pop off in public and fly accross the room - believe me that isn't so funny when it happens to you).
Now I'm remembering my own embarressing mistakes I think I'm coming up with more tips that might be useful...and laughing at myself in the process. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. I've never seen such a collection of unpleasant, catty observations collected in one place for a long, long while. Nothing constructive after page 1... just page after page of "oh if you're fat don't wear x"... "I saw a woman wearing x and she wobbled a bit hee hee heee"... large people need to dress too... you've already lambasted Gok for falling back on wide leg trousers and loose floaty (but not see-through) tops... yet you've ridiculed everything else that particularly large people wear.
Yes, I'm fat - and surprisingly, I wear a lot of wider leg trousers, longer tunic length tops that tailor in at the waist - because.... THAT SUITS ME.
Honestly though - you're the worst kind of women for some of the stuff you're coming out on on here. Quit lying to yourselves that you're talking about how to dress yourselves - you're just wanting to shred other people relentlessly.
I'll address that point because it was ME who made it.
Im glad that you have found a style that you're comfortable with, and that makes you feel good. However i feel that Gok Wang is NOT a particularly good stylist. Whilst his attempts at making women feel great about themselves are admirable, his methods, and actual styling are sloppy, as he never explores other styles. His 'tried and tested' method is something that nearly all larger women know already, and yet he flogs it to death. He truly is a case of 'emperors new clothes'.
Yes, this thread isnt particularly useful, but so what? Its a bit of fun. If you can tell me that you've never had a laugh at some of the sites that we unfortunately see these days on the high street, then Im afraid I wont believe you. People in the Uk, in 2009 HAVE lost the ability to present themselves well. They DO fall back into the old 'tracksuits and trainers' mode, and it makes me sad and angry that so few people have actual pride in their appearance anymore.
So if this thread makes only ONE person stop and check if, for example, their belly button is sticking out of their top when they go out, then good. It means that I and we have made a difference. You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

But who granted anyone the power - IRL or on the internet - to be the Fashion Police - and sit in judgement of people who - for many many many reasons may not have the will, inclination to dress like something from Grazzia, Look or Harper's Bazaar.
This is NOT in defence of those who may have let themselves go and are therefore "offensive to the eye" or "a sight"; but a little understanding may not hurt. My closest town (which I hate with a passion) is full of such people - usually they will be wearing many different size Creole earrings, sporting the odd ill-advised (and positioned) tattoo, pushing multi-baby buggies and smoking a fag. I don't support such a lack of style - I am inwardly critical of it, but I don't laugh at it either. It is very easy to sit here, describing today's outfit, giving advice to invisible people who seemingly can't think for themselves but there are lines that seem to get crossed when it comes to talking about weight..
Dippychick's seeming attack on dizziblonde came right out of left field as far as I could see. It is one of the absolute horrors of the internet and forums like this.
(As for Gok Wan - waste of valuable oxygen on this planet if you ask me.)0 -

Thats the part I dont understand you see. The way we present ourselves to the outside world actually TELLS the world who we are. Whether we like it or not, everyone judges. Everyone.
And I often wonder how we got to the state in this country where 'overweight, tracksuit wearing' became the 'norm'? Is it because people have no self esteem, and they dress to reflect that? Or is it that they dress like that, and therefore have no self confidence? The two are linked, but why?You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

Don't you think kindness and compassion is more attractive than any clothes you can buy on the highstreet. Give me someone with a sense of humour any day.0
