Glasses....anyone buy from Selectspecs or eyewearcentre?

Wish I had read this thread prior to placing my order! It doesn't fill me with confidence.
I've ordered a pair of Ray-Ban prescription glasses, as well paying for the company's PD service. I duly sent off my old frames for PD measurement, which were returned to me very quickly, so no complaints there. However, having checked my account this evening, the separate order for the prescription frames has moved from the current orders folder ("You have no current orders at this time - Recently completed orders will display in Order History") and joined my PD order in the completed orders folder, despite the fact that it's not completed, and still reads as so when I go into the folder to check the details (it's still at the "lenses ordered" stage apparently). Whilst not too worrisome, I am now concerned I may be at the beginning of a nightmare journey like many here on this thread! Fingers crossed.0 -
I brought glasses from select spec back in 2008 and was very impressed with them. Good delivery time and great value for money. So when I accidentally broke that pair of glasses I had no hesitation to order a new pair from them, expecting the same service. However, I ordered on 23/01/11 and have not yet received my glasses, despite getting an email confirming despatch on 01/02/11. The website clearly states delivery within 10 days. I understand that deliveries can sometimes take longer. However, I feel that select spec know that delivery within 10day is unrealistic. What it seems like is that they let the Hong Kong side of it deal with both customer service and delivery.0

NOOOOO! Don't do it!
I don't want to cross post, so PLEASE see my post about ny experience
I'm not allowed to post links, it's on the "Vent - Selectspecs" thread - only three replies as I write, so not too hard to find.0 -
I ordered a pair of glasses on the ''The 19th January 2011'' and as of yet ''22 February'' 2011' not received them. I e/mailed them today and they informed me that they will ''soon'' send me a non ''delivery'' note. They will then re-order and I could be waiting another 5 weeks .
They have thus far refused to provide a refund as requested, even though they will have failed to meet their 'Contractual obligation'.
This appears to be a very poor company, who are only interested in your money. Will keep you informed should they once again ''Fail to deliver''0 -
Fed up waiting now. I feel like I've been robbed. Anyone able to recommend a good site for glasses?0

Another disgruntled customer here (previous experience exceptionally good).
16th January 2011 - Order placed and immediately into production.
18th January 2011 - Sent to Quality Control.
31st January 2011 - Despatched
I sent Selectspecs a message on Twitter to ask why there was such a delay in quality control to despatch - they informed me that they "have had some items delayed in transit between our labs".
Clearly this delay is affecting more than inter-HK transit; and I'm still waiting on mine. I'm giving them until their 25th working day as they tell me, but looking at recent experience I'm not holding out much hope of ever seeing my glasses.
Would be interested to see if the company representative appears back here to comment further.0 -
I just received my glasses. 25 days from order to delivery.
I went for the 'by cheque' option to save en extra 5%.
Designer frames about half the price anywhere else.
Lenses seem fine, I'm not an expert on lens machining so I don't know if they could have been a little neater, but look fine to me.
Just wanted to put in another customer view.0 -
I also put an order in on 20th January....dispatched 31st January....Now 28th February...still not arrived. I do not hold out much hope from what I have read on this forum.
I should have known better....I would never buy anything on e bay unless it was in the UK. I have broken my pledge and have paid the price... if I receive them in the next day or two I will come back on the forum to praise them !!!0 -

Fair quality for price paid....I therefore having nothing but praise for them !
......no, but no, fair do....
However if selectspecs are reading these pages, I think it would be in their interest to state that delivery would be in four to five weeks from dispatch......that way nobody c:Tan complain, if the delivery appears to be late. I think it is the raised expectations of 10 day delivery which causes the problem0 -

Try www.Speckyfoureyes.com
Always full of bonkers offers and deliver every time. They even answer the phone when you call them. Nothing but praise for these guys.
