I'm very disappointed in the service from selectspecs.I sent 2 pairs of glasses to be reglazed on 8th.Sept.and am still waiting for them.I have sent several e-mails but they keep giving me excuses and giving me another delivery date. The current one is now 13th.October.It's not the 7-10 days that is advertised on the site.I'm seriously getting worried now in case the reglaze is not done correctly. Also I made the mistake of paying by cheque so I have no protection of a credit card.:(0

Hi James
If a pair of glasses are showing as discontinued, is that something permanent or would stock come in eventually?
Thanks
Hi Don,
Discontinued means that this product option is no longer available and will not be available again in the future (no longer being manufactured). Apologies.
Kind regards,

I bought a pair of bi-focals. arrived after about 3 weeks. Seemed like the wrong prescription. I sent them back - my postage was refunded and I got a new, perfect set of spectacles in another 3 weeks.
My experience is that the fixed a problem quickly, without quibblin. I'd use them again.
Thanks for the feedback, this is great to hearAs we've mentioned before if the problem with your glasses is an error on our part we will always rectify as quickly as possible for you.

Do you have an order number for this? I suspect there is just an unforeseen delay on the lenses and as you suggested we normally have a turnaround time of 7-10 days.
If you can give me your order number I'll try and get a more detailed explanation to you to put your mind at ease.
Kind regards,

Personally, I think it is awful that folk should need to use a forum like this to sort out customer service issues, when there should be an effective means of dealing with you directly.
See what I mean?Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

I thought I was doing the right thing using selectspecs.com so much cheaper than the high st. However, I had not reckoned on the sheer frustration of the wait and stilted communication.
I am waiting for a delivery date for my order but from this thread it would appear that that in itself might be excrutiating.
Please can someone at selectspecs give an honest answer as to when my order will be despatched and when i can expect delivery? If I know these answers it will make my life easier.
Thanks in advance

I have ordewred 2 pairs of prescription glasses form Selectspecs. They were produced and shipped in reasonably good time. That was on October 14th. Now (October 27th almost 2 weeks later) Hong Kong Post Office is still "processing them for departure from Hong Kong". This is rediculous. With the delays in so many orders I wonder if the problem is the Hong Kong Postal Service. This does not remove responsibility from Selectspecs as they chose to set up operations in Hong Kong.
I have emailed Hong Kong Post and received the following reply:
Thank you for your enquiry.
May we take this opportunity to explain to you that, in accordance with
Universal Postal Regulation, the sender has the prior right to make enquiry.
If you have any queries about the disposal of the item, please inform the sender to lodge an enquiry to our office.
However, following an enquiry to Selectspecs, in which I told of the delay with Hong Kong post, I was promised that if they did not arrive by the 18th November they would replace them. Why can Selectspecs not contact Hong Kong Post and demand to know what is going on???? Selectspecs to need to be more responsible in following up on such delays and not just say "its beyond our control.... its the post office's fault".
The service from Selectspecs is only as good as the delivery service they use. If so many items are lost or delayed then is it really worth the stress?0 -
I must admit, this is the first time I have joined a forum and decided to make a comment. But I was just about to order some glasses from their website and have been thoroughly put off by all of the bad reviews for selectspecs.
I think sometimes things really can be 'too good to be true', and selectspecs is most probably a prime example of this. The things that worry me, and really don't seem worth the risk are:- P.O. Box address
- No telephone number, only fax!! I mean come on...fax!?
- A bunch of anonymous 'customer reviews' on the website (all of which are remarkably gleaming - a stark contrast to what I have read here and other places)
- Desperate people who feel they've been scammed having to resort to talking to a company 'representative' through this medium. All of this would be extremely embarrassing for a recognised and intellectual business wanting to satisfy customers
I just wish there was more consumer power, where sites like this, which appear to conduct business in such a questionable and suspect manner can be regulated and made more transparent.
Rant over. Just pay that bit more and go the high street...0
