  • Been waiting over 6 weeks for sunglasses, supposed to be lost in the post. I was charged £5.99 postage by SELECTSPECS, ample amount for Royal Mail Sign for recorded delivery but apparently they use standard delivery.
It is half way through August now, I have now had to purchased alternative sunglasses for my holiday.
SELECTSPECS are refusing to refund my money.

    Mugging O.A.Ps you need help.
  • Do yourself a favor and avoid Selectspecs in a big circle.
I waited for my glasses more than a month and received just a part of my order (clean and care kit and cloth is missing). I'm stated in Europe.
Besides, lenses are total disaster. They supposed to be thin but they are not and I cannot see clearly through them.
I returned item and they said everything is perfect and sent them back.
Ofcourse, I paid postage to return them and I guess will have to do it again.
I will raise dispute through paypal.

Never had bad shopping experience like this before. Rude and unprofessional.

    Hi Adriana,

Can you give me an order number so I can look in to this for you? Please be advised some parts of orders are shipped separately and will arrive at different times.

If you can give me some more details I can check for you.

    Kind regards,

    James

  • Spectacularly poor customer service. Selectspecs don't read your emails and Selectspecs don't listen to your (even very simple) instructions. Once you have paid for your specs you are 'at their mercy'. Still waiting for the Selectspecs specs to arrive AFTER TWO MONTHS. This is a Selectspecs purchase that is going SelectSpec-tacularly bad.
  • Placed an order with this company on the 31st of December and my glasses arrived yesterday, could not be more happier with the product or the price, i will be using this company more often and recommendiing to friends and family.
  • Previous glasses I ordered from selectspecs were perfectly good and great value. I first heard of the firm on MSE almost 10 years ago. Now I fear I've made an expensive mistake.

WARNING - budget glasses are shipped direct from Hong Kong and the customer is responsible for any duties, taxes and fees associated with import. It's not made clear on their website, at least on the order screens which I saw. My order is higher than the UK allowance for free imports, so I fear the cost will be almost doubled by the time HMRC and the Royal Mail have taken their cut. It would probably have been cheaper to order from Tesco Opticians.

Also, where is this firm based from a legal point of view? I always thought selectspecs was based in the UK but now I see frequent references to New Zealand.

It's impossible to amend an order because selectspecs seem to ignore messages until it's too late.

    Hi George_Bray,

Budget glasses are shipped to UK and Europe from UK, you will not be subject to any duties or taxes. This has been the case for well over a year now.

With regards to the NZ references, we're pushing our website out to global locations and are trialing NZ at the moment to ensure things are ok, there's been some bugs which are being addressed. Fear not, we're still firmly based in the UK. :)

Can you give me an order number so I can check your order for you?

    Thanks
    James

Hi, can you give me an order number for this please so we can check? All orders are processed as per customers instructions, if there are any issues we contact the customer.

If you're still waiting for your glasses it may be because they're on hold awaiting a response from you but without knowing who you are I cannot confirm.

    Kind regards,
    James

Hey SelectSpecs. Why did you ignore 3 requests to cancel my order due to shipping delays? You had not even fitted the lenses to the frames before my first request to cancel. Two subsequent requests before dispatch also ignored. I know you received the request because they are in my email thread with you.

    Quite shocking customer service!
