Glasses....anyone buy from Selectspecs or eyewearcentre?

    I have been so disappointed. It amazes me how stupid a company has to be to sell something like frames over the internet and not expect them to have to be adjusted. It doesn't matter how many measurements you search with, you still might need adjustments when they arrive based on shape etc. I was trapped into a sale for something not fit for purpose and as a result, I have spent several weeks fighting with this company because they sold frames that are mainly rubber arms but failed to warn anyone that they weren't suitable for any kind of adjustment. Even the opticians were surprised that they had sold these particular frames with no further advice. That is a serious failure in thier process that they refuse to admit and they would not provide a full refund. I've actually ended up paying them more money to exchange them! Or be stuck with useless glasses. Be Aware - Refunds and Exchanges are not free you are charged extra fees for the privilege. This company leaves a lot to be desired and although it might look cheap on the face of it, before you know it, you might have extra fees for this and that. If you must buy from them, be very aware of what you are getting into.

    I confirmed with our shop staff that the frame in question can be adjusted in certain areas (all frames can be adjusted to a certain extent), they can be adjusted around the bridge, the lugs and towards the end of the arms for best fitment. Unfortunately, due to your high prescription there is very limited room for adjustment around the lenses as this can dislodge the lenses.

    With regards to our refunds and exchange policy, or T&Cs, this information is available on our website should the unfortunate need to return or exchange the item arise. Our fees are displayed clearly here - we do not hide any costs or information.

    While I agree that our postage fees are quite high, we believe you will not be able to find a cheaper pair of glasses (including lenses and coatings) delivered on the high street or online. We also offer free postage on orders over £75.

    I can see you have opted for an exchange of glasses and we really do hope you're satisfied with your new glasses.

  • I bought a pair of Nike frames with varifocal lenses for over £224.

    After a week of pinging emails they placed my order and said it would take 10 days.

    Over 3 weeks later I finally got my glasses but to my disappointment one of the lenses wasn't fitted correctly, there was a gap from the frame to the lens and the banding was clearly snapped.

    I raised an RMA and returned them immediately. It took nearly a week before they even responded.

    I was then told the lenses were fitted correctly and they basically called me a liar (despite sending photographic evidence). They refused to talk to me on the phone and stated they could not complete the order and were sending a refund whether I liked it or not. I argued that this was not what I wanted and that I wanted the glasses returned and fitted correctly. I was told this was not possible and my order could not be completed and I was getting a full refund.

    Over a week later and I still have not received any refund.

    Select specs are a joke, they called me a liar and insulted me when I finally got to speak to someone. They clearly are not able to fit lenses properly and avoid providing good customer service. This company needs to be investigated by trading standards. I was totally disgusted and horrified at the way I was treated and the fact that select specs could not complete my order correctly. Do not use select specs they are fraudsters, unprofessional, liars and thieves. I will never recommend this company.

    We received your frame back to us and it was perfectly fine when we received it, there were no problems and the problem you had stated did not exist. It appears that the issue you mentioned was simply because the lens had popped out of position and this had managed to resolve itself during handling from yourself, or by us or in transit.

    I personally had a good look at your glasses and there was no fault with the frame or lenses.

    While I will not go in to detail about your correspondence on a public forum, several staff complained that you were being abusive to them on the phone while we were trying to assist you and as such we were obliged to cancel your order and refund monies.

    We monitor several public forums and help people where we can, complaints are few and far between in the grand scheme of things and most cases are resolved given the opportunity.

    I placed an order and received an email confirming my order.NOTHING ELSE. A few days past - I get curious as to why I haven't heard from them. I go to the website and login and see a "message" that the glasses are on back order and the only way to respond to them is via email. Why wouldn't you people email me? At this point, my credit card has been charged $200. I'm based in the US and i paid international charges for calling select specs in the UK and all i got was being put on hold. I've emailed them repeatedly. NO response at all. This is not just bad customer service, it's stealing peoples money! Order Number 427930
  • I recently purchased a new pair of glasses along as well as a pair of sports sunglasses with prescription inserts for a cycling holiday. Prior to placing my order, I contacted Selectspecs customer centre and sought confirmation of my inserts and sunglass choice as well as timeline, and placed the order at this time.
    When my order was recived it was missing my sports sunglasses. I contacted Selectspecs and from speaking to there customer service agent, they confirmed they had received my order but there supplier had not received it and would need to re-enter my order. and my would unlikely to be dispatched till after i had left for my holiday.
    As I needed a pair of sports glasses for my holiday I had to cancel my order and purchase the glasses elsewhere. In conversation with the customer service agent he would discuss with his Line Manager the additional costs i would incurr.
    In response to my email for additional costs I had incurred I received an email from Selectspecs advising me they 'would refund the difference in price', When I contacted Selectspecs asking for an address to send the invoice to they changed there tune about reimbursing me for the additional costs and offered me a new pair of glasses from there budget range.

    I feel totally let down by Selectspecs and the promises made by them, and will not be using them or recommending them to my family and friends.
