Glasses....anyone buy from Selectspecs or eyewearcentre?

If you are looking to buy new glasses online, you will no doubt have come across SelectSpecs. The website draws you in as they have what appears to be a massiverange of frames and lens options. It looks very tempting.
But please,go elsewhere unless you want a very long, frustrating wait for your orderand/or any responses from their customer service representatives.
They claim that "90% of our orders are completed and shipped within 7-10 working days."
Despite having had my first order take 27 days to arrive, I thought that must have been down to bad luck.
Just for clarification, my prescription is straight forward – nothing fancy.
I went ahead and ordered another pair of glasses on 3rd April (order no. 323818). On the 25th April I decided I should use their help desk to find outwhat was going on.
I contacted them 3 times without them replying.
Only on the 4th attempt, when I emailed Tony Russell, who I believe owns the business, did Iget a response.
However, this response informed me that the frames are delayed in Italy and will take a further 7 – 10 days to arrive.
Even if that is true, it will then take several more days for the glasses to be put together, QAed and delivered.
So best estimate isthat they will arrive 36 days after they were ordered.
I have therefore asked for the order to be cancelled and I will go to my local optician instead.
I have never encountered such bad customer service as comes from this company.
Please look elsewhere for your glasses otherwise you will be infor a very long, silent wait.0 -
As mentioned yesterday, it seems that I only ever get a reply from SelectSpecs when I email Tony Russell. This may be a coincidence.
However, after offering me a 20% discount for my inconvenience, I was told this morning that my frames may take a further 4 - 5 weeks to arrive. In other words, they don't have a clue what is going on.
I have instructed them to cancel the order and I will go back to my local optician.
Please don't waste your time with SelectSpecs0 -

Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately we do not have this frame in stock so this had to be ordered from Oakley directly, they have only just advised us that the item is on back order and could take several weeks to arrive. While we have a good selection of popular frames in stock, it's impossible to hold every frame in all colours and sizes (as you will find with any high street optician or online supplier).
I can see Alina has been dealing with your tickets, Tony has not had any dealings with your request as far as I can see. We have instructed our accounts team to refund you the monies as requested.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused. If you do wish to continue with your order please advise so we can stop the refund and process a 20% discount for you (as we mentioned on the 29th April).

Well - I should have done my research before ordering I guess.
Ordered a pair of Ray-Ban's from SelectSpecs a while ago - after 4 days the emailed me that this frame is going to be available in 5-7 Weeks and asked me if I wanted to wait or not. I told them that I would choose another Frame - no response for a couple of days. I asked whether they got my email - no response for a couple of days. Then I canceled my order through email and their ticketing system, suddenly they where able to read my first email but ignored the content. I replied that the order is canceled - and who would know it? Right, no answer.
If anyone reads this - please don't order at SelectSpecs. They offer stuff they don't have, refuse to communicate or giving a refund. I think there is a reason why they are so far away from the next airport…

I have read your tickets and can see that we responded to your request and changed your order accordingly but did not see the new ticket you had opened unfortunately, apologies for this.

I ordered glasses on May 26th from Select Specs. At that time my credit card was charged for the glasses. On May 28th I received an email that said the glasses were discontinued and that I should email or call them to select different glasses. I emailed back and have not yet received a reply. I tried calling them and the number on their website does not appear to work even when adding in the UK country code. I am super upset and would like to know if anyone has had luck contacting them in the UK from the US - and what phone number did you dial?0

I lost my glasses, looked around online and found a reference on here about Select Specs. I read and weighed up peoples good experiences and rants and decided that £6 plus £5.95 for postage was an ok enough an amount to take a risk.
It paid off. I lost the glasses on a Sunday, ordered them from Select Specs on the Monday and exactly a week later I am sat with glasses.
Nothing for me to complain about and I will be using them again instead of being ripped off by Specsavers again.0 -
James, I ordered Ray Ban frames and progressive lens over the weekend only to get a note today stating that the frames aren't available. I guess there's some reason that the site shows them available and in stock but in reality, they are not available. I sent a return email asking if the frame was available in one of the different colors and am awaiting that response.
If you site had a chat session that would allow us to know what exactly was in stock, that would help. Of course, I guess we could just come on here and ask you before we order.
