I am concerned about the watchdog angle - if they can a bad press then new business will dry up and the I guess we can all kiss any further payments goodbye :(
    I think....

Never mind Watchdog, all the forums are giving "bad press" or warnings if you like regarding these cashback companies and have been for a long time now.
It appears they have taken a business gamble which may backfire on them unless of course they can cheat the customers. CNM amongst others have been doing this for a while now, but because of advice from forums such as this (moneyclaim, LBA's etc.) they are having to pay back more than anticipated, which could in turn close a few of these sharks - that's our gamble.
CNM are an obvious candidate for going bust as anyone taking out a new contract with these must be MAD. If they are still getting new customers, then the asylums must be empty. :D

I agree with your comments. I am usually an optimist but I have my doubts that I will receive all my cash back from CNM.

This is my first venture into this minefield and probably my last.

    I second that.
Hi all, Ive been watching this forum since I signed up for a new contract from PhoneBox Direct at the end of may. They are part of the same group it seems. I am in the process of sending my first claim in now. :o Hope it is completed correctly.

I signed up on 29th may, the first bill dated 15th june, showed 30 may to 30 june in the itemised service charges. The bill i intend to send is dated 15th oct and shows service charge for the period 1 oct to 31 oct. Is this correct?????

Where it asks for Cash Back Amount, do I enter £420 or £84 (being 1 fifth of the total)?

Finally, it says on the cashback claim form I saved to disc at the time of signing up, "...we will send you a cheque for the relevant amount of cash back within 14 days,:j directly to your home address." Does anyone think I will see it so soon?

Thanks for such an informative forum :A

Right, first forget the "months", what you must do is count the days on a calendar since sign up day.

So, if it says send "Bill for 4th Month, or first bill after 120 days" - forget the 4th month bit, just make sure IT IS THE FIRST BILL AFTER DAY 120 WHATEVER MONTH THAT MAY BE

Not sure of the form you have, but mine has a line for both amounts.
Yearly cashback total and claim month

    No

You MUST, absolutely MUST, get your envelope contents verified by an INDEPENDENT WITNESS because later on they will lie to you and say some item or part was missing, and your witness can testify it was not missing.

I'd really recommend you send it in by Royal Mail Special Delivery with added Consequential Loss Insurance.

Sorry if the forum formatting sends it a bit wonky, but I'm sure you can line it up again.

  • Hi analyst,

OK, The contract was bought 26 May although the contract started 30 May.
    26 May + 120 days = 23 Sept.
The first bill I received after that is the 15 Oct bill. (phew, I think that bits right:T )

I will write in both the full years amount (£420) and the claim amount (£84), just to be sure.

The paragraph below the instructions for each instalment says, and I quote
"Subject to you having remained connected on the original price plan chosen; we will send you a cheque for the relevant amount of cash back within 14days, direct to your home address"
This is an exact quote, complete with typos... I dont imagine it will make any differance to the time it will take to process, and it doesnt say when the 14 days actually starts!!!:rotfl:
You MUST, absolutely MUST, get your envelope contents verified by an INDEPENDENT WITNESS

So do I get the witness to sign the bottom of the claim form to say he has seen whats included, and so the people at that end know this too. (maybe sheet 1 of 5, sheet 2 of 5, etc) I have taken the precaution of stapling the claim, despatch note and the complete bill all together.

Obviously I would get him to sign my copy of all the documents I send as well.

Spoke to Joanne at 0870 0427 895 today and asked if the despatch note was the right sheet as the referance number is very different to the one on the "Thankyou for your order" email I recieved. She said that is just a wharehouse referance, and the sheet I was looking at is the right one. Has anyone been denied payment because of the despatch note being the wrong one? But then I didnt get any other paperwork so maybe I am freaking my self out over nothing:eek:

    Royal Mail SD for sure...

I don't think it is necessary for your witness to sign all the documents.

All you need is a person, independent of you or your family, to be able to stand up in court (probably never arise tho') and say "Yes I can confirm that I saw all documents were correct and present when they were sent to the scamming dog-turds"

However, you can do as you suggested if you want to say "Listen up Bucko, I MEAN BUSINESS"

Mailing SD is good but don't forget the Consequential Loss Insurance for £1. If postie loses your letter on the way its the only way you'll be sure to get your £420 back on a Royal Mail Claim. The true value of the contents otherwise is what, a couple of bits of paper?

Reference number starts with CNM and was on the original email. I really don't know where the 14 days came from; it's never been on any of the t&c I've seen and I also took out a contract with PBD in May (same t&c and naturally I printed them out at the time!).
