  • Hi Buddybabe

Just like everyone else, I can only admire the way in which you are tackling this.

I don't think you can live off a great deal less. everything seems very economical.

I have several thoughts on your SOA.

You write well and are clearly hard working and dedicated. £940 per month doesn't seem a great deal of earnings for someone with those attributes. Have you thought about trying to get more money/ a better paid job.

You have £600 saved and yet are paying over 1.5% per month in interest. Would it not be better to use that £600 to repay debt, then spend the £600 from your credit card at Xmas.

Have you tried speaking to your credit card companies and requesting lower interest rates? I managed to get MBNA to accept zero interest for 12 months in exchange for paying a fixed 1.66% of my outstanding balance each month. This was without detriment to my official credit record and by pointing out that I was in short term financial difficulty. You must be paying around £150 per month just in interest on your credit cards, which is a real waste.

Anyway good luck with it all.

  • Well done gal - going strong!

Update your sig on the same day every month (say the 15th) and it will become really clear exactly what you have paid off each month.

I agree with Zulu Dawn that you could be earning more money - get in touch with an agency who might be able to recommend other positions you'd be suited to.

    Hi there

I no longer have £600 saved i've only got £100 left out my savings now i've been using them to pay for shopping and other things i needed including my minimum credit card payments.

My mum took me out shopping to Tesco's today and also filled up my car with petrol to say thank you for lending her money when she needed it. So i've now got enough food to keep me going for a week or two if i can make some soup and lasagne and freeze it.

I had listed 55 items on ebay during the 5p listing day costing me £2.75 and they all ended last night and not one of them sold
I've another 104 things listed but only 4 selling at the moment for a grand total of £4.17. Its starting to cost me money to list things on ebay. So the big question is do i keep listing on ebay and try to put some new things on hoping they will sell.

Any ideas ??? Its not the best kind of weather to go and do a car boot sale at the moment.

    Thanks

  • Hi BB - why not log on to https://www.Freecycle.org? On there people list things for free - I was going to buy one casserole dish for £30 from IKEA but I happened to look on Freecycle.org (the Brighton section) and saw 2 x casserole pots being given away for nothing! I arranged with the lady and picked them up on this last Saturday - saving £45!

It's an e-mail message group - you will soon find lots of your stuff will go - won't raise you any money but will help people in your area save money. You may then find the karma comes back to you and that when you next need something, Freecycle.org has the exact thing listed right there for free rather than you having to buy it... :T

    Hi there

I've been looking at my outstanding debts and my Skycard is the one with the highest interest rate. My Grampa's money should be through any day now which im going to use to pay this and my overdraft off.

I was trying to work out which to pay off next. The one with the next highest interest rate is my MBNA card.

Now i would prefer to pick a card that has a smaller balance as I feel its so much easier to see the amount reducing but know that would cost me more in the long run. So anyway i now need to work on reducing my balance of £4024.48.

Based on my snowball calculation my MBNA card will be paid off by April 2010 which is ages away!!! I want this card cleared by December 2007! Giving me 15 months to clear the balance which allowing for the interest i would need to pay £350.00 per month towards it... i dont think im going to be able to do it but im going to give it a good shot!!!

So target for October is £325.00 - so far i have £64.48 (this is in my overdraft balance for my direct debit payment) I've counted up my loose change and it comes to £11.51 which i will pay towards this on tuesday (banks are shut here 2moro) and im including that in Octobers total. So total saved so far is £75.99 so £249.01 to go

I think im really going to start to struggle again. The overtime at work has now stopped so thats ruled out. My second job is taxed heavily so any extra shifts i get in there really are not worth it but i suppose any little extra helps, only problem is with xmas coming up they usually get extra staff in which means not many extra shifts will be going and i can only work nites and weekends.

The weather is definately out for doing car boot sales now.

Ebay is not going well at all only 9 of the items that i had listed sold and a few people did not pay so it ended up costing me money. I have got 99 listed at the moment and have a few more new items to go on.

I have quite a bit tracked in my Quidco account just waiting for the first payout which should be around £40.00 so that can go towards it once i receive it.

Im going to try to keep putting away £550 towards my credit card bills where im going to get it from i have no idea but im determined!!!

So am going to add this into my signature... Im going to need a kick up the bum every now and again ( so please feel free :rotfl: )

and if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know

    Thanks

  • Just a quick ebay update before i go to bed. I listed some more things today bringing my ebay items listed to 115.

So far 2 items are selling for a total of £3.99 and 7 items are being watched including the 2 that already have bids!!! and they still have between 6 and 9 days to go :j

I know its only a small thing but i've already paid my ebay listing fees so anything i make should be a small profit towards my MBNA card

Im going to try and list at least 5 new things a day so that there will be something finishing everyday

    wish me luck
    nite nite

  • I received a cheque this morning for an ebay item that sold (i didn't think they were going to pay for this!) so less postage it leaves me £4.04.

So this goes towards MBNA October total

So target for October is £325.00 total saved so far is £80.03 so £244.97 to go

Its the last day of my holiday from main job so really should be doing the cleaning and tidying that i'd set aside the week for but am going to look for some more stuff to sell on ebay instead.... the cleaning can wait :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Its only me in the house so its not as if anyone else is going to see it :p

  • Well the cheque for my grampa's money was due to be posted out last friday, however, when my dad phoned up today to see if when they had been posted he was informed that the money for the shares has still not been received although they were sold 2wks ago and that the cheques had not been sent out.

So I have no idea when im going to receive this money now. I was hoping to get it in before the end of this month but its looking highly unlikely!

Im so fed up the lawyers are useless and keep giving the wrong information but won't admit that they are in the wrong and are charging a stupid price for all the work they've done .... which was just closing 2 bank accounts and sorting out some shares (which still hasn't been done)

Sorry for going on but am just so angry

My sister phoned me to say that she would lend me some money if i need it but when i asked her where she was getting the money she said out her credit card so i told her she could keep it and tried to explain about all the fees and interest charges but she just wasn't interested. It really annoys me that she doesn't care about it she keeps saying she'll pay it off when grampas money comes through but at the rate she's spending it she'll owe out more than she's due to get.

To top it all off im getting the cold back that i've had for the last 6 weeks

I just feel like giving up. I just want to go to my bed and not have to get up

Hopefully 2moro will be a better day
