Hello! Poor you, you seem to have had a tough time of it recently. Having read through literally thousands of posts on this site, I think what you are going through (ie the '1 step forward, 20 steps back phenomenon') seems to be quite common. The only encouragement I can offer is that before your lightbulb moment you wouldn't have even taken that one step forward, so would have slid much further back than you have done. Remember, all the nasty things that have happened would still have happened if you hadn't been trying to sort out your debts - and they probably would have had a much bigger financial impact on you than they have now. Hope that makes sense (it's a bit late at night for me to have any real clarity of thought!). Keep going and you will get there in the end. Love Snaggles xx

Well am feeling a bit better today. Had a bad day at work and was so tired just wanted to go home and sleep but had to go to 2nd job.

Anyway i've decided theres nothing that can be done for me miscalculating my money. Its my own fault. I now know exactly what i owe and i just need to set about tackling it now!

I want rid of this debt and im going to do it hopefully with some help from everyone here to keep me motivated.

Iv currently got 300 things listed on ebay and £20 of items selling. There on till saturday and then anything that doesn't sell is going to the car boot sale on Sunday!

Overtime in my work is due to stop in a few weeks time and i wasnt working this sunday as i really need the cash now so the car boot sales the easier option. Been told today that overtime might not be on this sunday but that saturday might be an option. Im hoping that this is the case so i can work sat 8 - 12 at time an a half then get home to start work in 2nd job at 2 - 6 then carboot sale on Sunday....

Please pray overtime is cancelled on sunday and is on instead on sat and that sunday will be a lovely sunny day ... and not the rain that it is promising!!!

If all goes to plan i should be able to get the overtime and the cash from the car boot sale ... wish me luck

Good luck honey! See if using my budget / saving pots spreadsheet helps - one person on MSE told me he is using his 'saving pot spreadsheet' to track debt payments instead, not savings, so maybe that would help you too?

Hi. As everyone says hang on in there. I would definately use some spreadsheets to keep a track. I recently downloaded EagerLearners and added it to one or two others I had done myself to keep a track of debt. I even have one which is a copy off the snowballing website and although I may be replicating things is certainly helps me to keep a track. I have a speadsheet for my bank account also(and in red everything that will come out) so that have a running total at the bottom. Therefore if a payment has not come out I know to chase up or when it does what my balance will be. Also have savings one (using eager learners). Excessive but keeps me on track and it is all about using what is right for you.

    Good luck!

Glad it helped Shogs - MSE have now allowed me to include it my signature as over 1,100 downloads have taken place!

You can also use the spreadsheet savings tab as a 'debt pot' rather than a 'savings pot' - and see the 'tower' going down every month :T :T :T

Well today started off a really good day. I was getting a new computer delivered it was paid for by my mum and dad until my grampa's money comes through. The only reason i decided to get it was the fact that the pc that i've been using keeps crashing anytime i want to do anything.

So i was looking forward to getting home tonight to get it set up and transfer all my documents over to my new computer.

Got up this morning and switched on old pc only to find it wouldn't start and i cannot get anything off it at all! Its just a blank screen that says insert disc.
Anyway went to work in the hope that my dad may be able to fix it but he cant. Came home tonight and new pc is here and its great only problem is all the stuff on my old pc is gone.

All my music and photos were on my pc along with all my spreadsheets, snowball calculations everything is gone.

I phoned the computer shop and they have said that they could look at it but to try to get my stuff back it could cost up to £55 but they can't guarantee that it will work.

So the ? is do i try to get it fixed to get my stuff back or do i just write it off??? I was going to try to sell the computer but thats not an option anymore.... i don't know what to do???

    Help please x

    Just a quick update

I've managed to get my old computer up and running again thank goodness so am in the process of trying to save everything to discs ... its taking ages but i don't want to wait and do it in the morning incase i can't get the pc back on again so i may still be up when its time to go to work in the morning although i hope not!

Im just so glad i can now get my stuff back... to think five hours ago i was sitting here in floods of tears cause nothing was going right

Once i've got all my documents saved i'll get my spreadsheets and everything put on this over the weekend.

Good news on the ebay front .. i've now got £30 worth of stuff selling and about 75 things being watched so hopefully they'll have bids on them by the time i get in from work 2moro and overtime at work is looking promising for Sat so keep your fingers crossed for me ;)

You've got over 75 things on Ebay!! Wow - well done! I have about 10 things to put on Ebay....hopefully it will get me a few quid!

    :)

Glad you are being able to retrieve your stuff off the computer. They are a nightmare aren't they!?
