  • Well done BB - keep on going!

Have you considered getting books from your library rather than buying? It would save you parting with cash and would also save e-bay listing fees and all the time you spend on posting things.

If you really are hooked on buying - buy cheap - not from the stores but from e-bay instead.

I am doing the 'Make £1,024 in 12 weeks from nothing challenge' here on MSE and I am selling some very cheap books on e-bay for fun hoping to earn just a few pennies each (on top of what I paid) - if you want to reduce your book spend and help me get started on the challenge let me know. Some of them may even be good as a cheap Xmas or birthday pressie - all are nearly new.

Anyway - are you doing the Grocery Challenge? What about the Old Style batch cooking recipes? Do you buy lunch at work everyday or make your own?

On the Old Style Board there are lots of ideas to cut down, I don't know if you are already looking at that thread or not... how about getting clothes from charity shops?

    Hi

Today has got to be one of the worst days i've had in a long time. I was working in my 2nd job today running the shop which im not all that keen on as Sunday is my only day off and if i work in the shop it feels like iv not had a break.

Anyway i got up today thinking that it would be an ok day, however, it didn't go too well. Everything was fine until about 3pm when i realised that someone had stolen 7 mp3 players and 4 bottles of perfume all of which someone should have been keeping their eye on!

Phoned the boss at home he was not amused and wanted to know why no one had seen anything and i couldnt give him a reason. He said that there was nothing that i could do about it and that i wasnt to blame, however, i got the impression that i was. Anyway im sure that i'll be spoken to about it 2moro nite when i go into work.
Im just sure that it will be me that gets the blame for it even though i gave someone the job of keeping their eye on them but the staff in the shop just refuse point blank to work for me on a Sunday.... they treat the place more like a meeting place than a work place. To be honest for the extra few pounds i get a week its just not worth the hastle! I used to really enjoy working in the shop, however, lately its not been much fun.

Im tired all the time and have been getting constant headaches. I just wish i didn't need the money. Everyone at both my jobs seems to think that i must be loaded with money working 2 jobs but when i try to tell them that i need to do it they just laugh! Do they really think i would work all the hours i could if i didn't need the money!

Sorry thats the rant over for today.

On the plus side its been another casino free week :j

    MBNA challenge update:
I've managed to put £291.40 away towards my MBNA card this includes my minimum payment for November. So only £33.60 to go and only 9 days to go so thats £3.74 per day. Im going to do this ;)

Eager learner i've been looking through the items you have listed on ebay but i have about 50 books in the house that i haven't read yet so until they are read im not spending another penny on books or anything else for that matter!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I managed to sell some of my books on ebay, however, i only have £9.30 in my Paypal account which means its going to be quite a while before i can withdraw this. I have paid all my fees and have 231 items listed with only one item selling for 99p but there are still 3 - 6 days left to go.
    Thanks

  • Hi hun - I had a quick peek at your e-bay stuff and it seems you only have one item sellling out of all those.... My 2 pennies worth? Don't load any more onto e-bay. It's taking far too much of your time and money in fees, for items that probably won't sell, and if they do they will sell for a minimum because they're fairly run-of-the-mill. Sorry babes - but if they were rare or something it'd be worth it - as it is, use the time to give all the stuff to charity, clear the clutter at home so you feel more in control and don't give ebay and more fee money!

Thanks for the reply and ur comments about ebay. Most of the stuff i have on has been listed before and i only ever list it again during low price listing days and usually i make enough to cover my fees and a little extra. I have quite a few items being watched at the moment so even if those sell it will be an added bonus. I do have some other things to list but haven't had the time lately which would probably make some money and not just 99p!! so i am going to continue listing on ebay as if i dont im going to end up going back onto the online casino.. it's only really ebay that keeps me off them so even if i dont make that much money i feel its better for me to do this than spend a few hundred pounds in a matter of minutes. Hope that makes sense?

Anyway off to second job now to see what gets said about yesterday
    wish me luck

Well work was ok tonight and nothing was mentioned at all. Some of the staff didn't even know what had happened so i think its just one of those things and typically i've spent all day and last night worrying about nothing :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

off to bed now to try and dream up some money making schemes

Try this for a money making scheme - making money from £0 (starting from selling items people have given you etc)- I am on the challenge and past my target! It's very inspiring and will keep your mind off casino's etc - plus gets your imagination going in terms of how to create money by spotting good deals - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=271716

    Hi

Just thought id give a quick update.

So far i've managed to not visit an online casino for 22 days now :j and i feel great. I cant wait until i've made it to my first gambling free month

    MBNA challenge update:

I've finally managed it now.... total saved is £111.90 minimum payment £20.42 already paid towards the card and £192.68 in savings account ready to be paid when statement arrives grand total £325.00
    :j :j :j

I would love to set target at £325 for November again, however, i really don't think its going to be possible next month what with xmas coming up and i have a few nights out to go to im going to need some spending money and not use my credit card so im going to aim for £225.00 for November and again it will include my minimum payment.

MBNA NOVEMBER TARGET £225 SAVED NIL SO FAR £225 TO GO

I've got most of xmas sorted hopefully. Im making up a food and drink hamper for my mum and dad and i've been buying the odd thing when i've been doing my shopping. My sister is getting a basket of various toiletries. I've got to get a £10 secret santa present for someone in my work but may have something in the house i'll be able to use for this dependent on who i get :rotfl: :rotfl: I won't have to buy anything for xmas dinner as i always go to my mums and i just have a few friends to buy for but i was buying things in the sales so think i have that covered. I also saved for xmas using home farm hampers and am due to get £270 in vouchers, i had already paid this amount before my lightbulb moment i usually get so much more than this but decided id already paid this so cancelled the rest of my order so when they come i should be able to buy something for my nights out for wearing and then unless i need anymore presents i think i'll keep the majority of them for the January sales

I used my Skycard credit card the other day for the first time in ages. I only used it to try and build up my points so i can get another £5 off my sky bill but i made the payment as soon as i got home so the balance is still nil and it felt really good to be able to do this.

For the first time ever i've received credit interest on my current account and i've got no overdraft interest coming off to counter act that this time... it feels good getting that 0.04 from the bank :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Overtime is back on at work for a week or two but only in the mornings and at nights only problem is i car share to work so can only do two mornings 7.30 - 9am but its still extra money. I cant do nights due to my second job. I managed to get 4.45hours in at time and a half last week and am aiming for 2.45 this week thats a 7.30 start and a 7.45 start!!! In total last week between both jobs i worked a total of 65 hours and i wondered why i had problems getting up in the mornings!!!

Im not going to update my current debts outstanding total until around the 12th / 14th of November as its pay day and i'll be able to work out what i can pay towards my debts next month.

Anyway im off to check my ebay items now and sort out some more stuff for listing will update again soon

    MBNA challenge update:

I've managed to put £112.79 away towards my MBNA card this includes my minimum payment for December. So only £112.21 to go and i have no idea how im going to meet my target this month

MBNA NOVEMBER TARGET £225 SAVED £112.79 SO FAR £112.21 TO GO

I've got about £45 in my Paypal account from ebay and am waiting for payment for one item which would give me enough so i could withdraw the £50 but no sign of the payment being made anytime soon!!! Still got a few days before i can file a non paying bidder report so will just need to wait and see.... i could really be doing with that £50!

Still not been to any online casino's i've just not had the time.... or the urge to log onto them so thats me finally made it over a month :j i think i can do this

Off to check my ebay items... two selling at the moment but quite a few being watched am going to put some more stuff on Turbo Lister at the weekend to upload on monday during the 10p listing day and maybe relist some of the other stuff that didnt sell last time.

Hopefully have more to update soon

 I've just been thinking about my MBNA challenge and trying to work out how im going to make my target of £225 this month.

I was including my minimum payment for December in that total, however, thinking about this now I should really be including this amount in my challenge for December and not November as it will be paid to MBNA in December.

As im not going to be able to include my minimum payment for December with Novembers total im going to have to reduce my target for November by £75 this month giving me a total of £150 to make for November. I don't think id be able to make the £225 this month so £150 is more realistic, although im still not sure i'll manage it

So im going to have 2 targets running at once as follows:

MBNA NOVEMBER TARGET £150 SAVED £27.38 SO FAR £122.62 TO GO

MBNA DECEMBER TARGET £400 SAVED £85.41 SO FAR £314.59 TO GO

I don't know if its going to be possible to meet either of these targets but am going to try my hardest. To meet the November target im going to have to make £6.81 per day.

Anyway i've managed to confuse myself enough for one day :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
going to try and list some stuff on turbo lister just need motivation to get off MSN for a while :rotfl:
