I've only just seen this thread and you sound a lot more determined now, but just remember that if you do slip up, and most people do at some point, then you have to focus on the next day. Because then you can focus on how good you are going to be the next day. It'll be a long hard struggle at times, but you seem to have the strength to do this, if you focus on the task. As for the promotion, you CAN do it, you just need faith in yourself, and talk about YOURSELF in the interview, not everyone else. its you that they need to know about. -hug- hang in there.

No. The casinos don't want bad publicity. They operate in a contentious area, and it is in their best interests to be seen to be as "clean" as possible.

ZTD the job that im considering applying for i could do with no problems. Its just that they always end up choosing someone else that cant do the job who then comes to me to answer their questions when the don't know what to do and i really don't think i could be professional enough to help them. I have done in the past but it makes me so angry which is why i feel like it would be better for me to consider leaving rather than letting it affect me. It really got to me last time. When i didn't get the job the last time i went into a spell of depression that took me a while to get out of and i dont think i could face that again.... but its not going to happen cause im going to get the job this time. I think what i need is some positive thinking !!!! and the jobs not even been advertised yet so no need to panic at the moment :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: i really need to stop thinking about it!

I wasn't suggesting you should stay there no matter what, but that you should - if it comes to that - choose your time carefully, rather than just leaping at anything that comes your way.

The best way is to over-commit yourself, and make people completely reliant on you for the next year, then put your notice in to go to a better job.

Monthly update current outstanding debt is as follows:

    MBNA £4042.64 now £4633.30
    MORGAN STANLEY £2180.00 now £2060.00
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND MASTERCARD £9728.00 now £9806.72

TOTAL PAID OFF TO DATE £1207.30

It makes me mad when i think about how much money i have wasted over the last week but there is nothing that i can do about it now.

I just need to come up with some ways to get some additional money so i can start to pay off my debts. Im off my main job until Tuesday but am working in my 2nd job 2nite so i have most of the weekend to try and come up with an action plan for 2007.

I need to think about what my goals are going to be for 2007. I want to get my house completely gutted and cleaned from top to bottom. I have so much stuff that i just dont need or use so am going to go through everything and either list it on ebay put it aside for a car boot sale and donate the rest to charity.

I think im going to have to amend my challenge for my MBNA card as my SKY card is higher interest so will need to pay that off first! Outstanding balance at the moment is £876.00 so i really want that paid off asap so the interest isnt too bad. I have a £300.00 0% interest overdraft on my Alliance and Leicester account so i could use that towards it. Im going to have a good think about what else i can do too. I have some small savings put aside for my car and house not alot about £200 this was getting saved for my MOT and car insurance which is due in January... what do you think? should i use this to pay towards my SKYCARD but will then need to use my credit card to pay for my MOT and insurance.

    Any ideas????

  • Hi Buddiebabe - Glad to see you're getting back into the positive frame of mind!

I would use the cash to pay for the car things personally. In the pre-dfw days I would have put it on the card, but however I tried to manoeuvre things I always ended up in further debt. Hence I don't really have much to show for my £10K of cc debt.

To be honest, it's too close to them time to gain much advantage from the difference in interest rates between your debt and your savings. Just leave them as savings and pay your bills when they come due. Too much can go wrong for too little benefit to do it the other way.

Thanks for your replies. I am going to keep the money in my savings cause i have no idea how much my MOT is going to cost in the past its been over £400 so im not going to use my savings for my debt as i may still need to use the credit card to pay the remaining balance but hopefully not!

I've managed to do a bit of tidying up not much but its a start. Still so much to do so will try and get some more done before starting work today.

    Happy New Year

Well its a new year so am going to make a new start. I ended up 2006 worse off than i started although i did try i obviously didn't try hard enough!!

So am going to do everything i can to try and get motivated to start all over again and try much harder this year.

    CURRENT ACCOUNTS:
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND £1149.24 O/D
    ALLIANCE & LEICESTER £280.00 O/D

    CREDIT CARDS:
    BARCLAYCARD £5191.30
    MBNA £4591.98
    MORGAN STANLEY £2060.00
    ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND £9806.72
    SKYCARD £1489.30
    TESCO £2351.29

    TOTAL DEBT OUTSTANDING 1ST JANUARY 2007 £ 26919.83:eek:

I want to be debt free no later than December 2012 which gives me 5 years to do it which means paying off £5384.00 per year. My aim for this year is to pay off the £6919.83 leaving £20000.00 which will leave £5000 a year for the remaining 4 years. If it is possible id love to do it before then but am not goint to set my sights to high at the moment.

This year i want to do the following:

    1. Pay off Royal Bank of Scotland overdraft and reduce limit to £500.00
    2. Pay off Alliance & Leicester overdraft before 0% expires in August
    3. Pay off Skycard
    4. Pay off MBNA (or as much as i possibly can before December 2007)

Im going to have to be really strict with myself and not buy anything that is not essential.

Im going to continue to sell things on ebay and once the better weather starts i will do some car boot sales.

    Wish me luck

    Thanks

Im definately going to apply for the job when its advertised. I work for a local authority so the application form doesn't really count for much im practically guaranteed an interview so its just going to be the interview im going to need help with. My old boss has said she'll help me as much as she can so im hopefull that i wont mess it up this time!

I'll give you as many tips about ebaying and car boot sales as i can. Just ask away and i'll do my best to help.

I've also just signed up for the Olympic challenge and am aiming for Bronze level mayb you should join this too

As far as the debt goes we will get there and i'll be here for you if you need any help and im always open to any advice.

I've not included my mortgage in my debt figure cause it would add another £66000 to the total bringing it to just under £93000 and i couldnt face that. Once i've dealt with the credit cards then i'll work on the mortgage! :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Hi Buddiebabe

Glad to hear the confidence about the promotion - go for it.

I hadn't even considered the Olympic Challenge as I thought there was no way I could make so much money, but I see that's defeatist thinking so hell, I'll have a go. I've sold two books on Amazon today so hey, I'm started.

I can't wait for spring now to do a carboot sale - I'll def ask for tips when the time comes.

    Onwards and upwards...
