    Oh; righty-ho - a reality check.
Nah - I don't bother with the wider world, current affairs or the dreadful things that people can do to one another right on our doorsteps. Shallow, that's me.

Just to give my opinion. I don't read the daily fashion threads but I sometimes read and contribute to other fashion threads. It really doesn't bother me seeing a daily fashion thread and can't see why this is so offensive to others. I only steer clear of the fashion ones as there is only so many ways of writing about my jeans and T-shirts!

I think it was a bronnie diversion tactic to avoid saying why she objects to making the Fashion thread one continuous user friendly thread that keeps all happy

  • If you want my opinion, I'd be happy to keep a daily thread, or have a weekly thread, or have one long 'what are you wearing today?' thread, or whatever.

That said though I personally wouldn't have put us here, because the three elements of the overall board title are a bit too disparate for me. Fashion & Beauty is OK, Health & Beauty is better, but Health & Fashion don't really meet in the middle very much for me, if that makes sense. In my view it's much better to have a separate fashion board, possibly in a different section (the Arms maybe? Or the shopping bit?).

I think that the 'Arms has been suggested and rejected - besides, probably wouldn't last five minutes...

You are quite right though in that the subjects of the title of the sub-forum - and therefore it's content - are (even more) disparate and the leap from Health to Fashion is quite a big one. The fashion topics have become more "popular" than the health topics, the two are only very tenuously connected, if at all and although yes, change happens, shifting the focus of a thread that was perfectly fine is not so great. A slip-up by higher powers in my opinion.

I suspect it probably suits MSE to combine Health, Beauty and Fashion on one board.

The Health aspect has been the source of numerous dilemmas in the past for MSE; over people asking for medical advice, people offering what MSE construes as medical advice and so on.

Removing Beauty and Fashion would leave MSE with a pure Health Board, which they maybe fear would lead to more emphasis on Health posts and consequently more problems for them to deal with.

A combined board probably has sound reasoning behind it as far as the powers-that-be are concerned.

It was probably a quick decision after the rather powerful OS wanted fashion moved. I doubt that much thought went into it as fashion has virtually nothing to do with health or beauty.
I also dont expect they expected what many people thought was a take over bid. I could be wrong but I can only think of one other daily thread on the whole of MSE. There is absolutely no need for a daily thread wwhen there could be one nice simple one like other threads.
The board guides on OS are very good in that they are active in merging threads and moving threads. I wish the ones here could copy OS

Are you making it up as you go along? Get your facts right, matey!
It was nothing to do with the "rather powerful OS", you silly billy.

You should think about offering your services as a board guide.... something constructive to do in your spare time!!
    (tongue in cheek, of course!)

You should volunteer your services as a board guide.....you seem to have plenty of spare time!!

Blimey - I wish I'd seen that coming.

Does it not seem - to an objective eye - as a bit of an onslaught?
(Rhetorical question I'm sure as I don't doubt that I was put on Bronnie's ignore list quite some time ago...)

ab - I utterly and absolutely agree with your point re. there being one/very few daily threads elsewhere; why there has to be one for what people are wearing is beyond me - mind you, I don't particularly like tthe OS daily one eiether - it never stays on topic ot true to it's title.

The fact remains that - with no support from the true controllers of the forum - it is up to the posters to show restraint, good sense and manners now that residence has been taken up on the H, B & F board.
