• The advert came from GUMTREE and they had gone to some lengths asking what you are qualified in using a very similar interface to Guardian jobs and any legit sites. Then they send you the link which has been posted here by users previously, only it's Mary Davies instead of Laura. Using the common sense oft-quoted 'if it seems too good to be true...' mantra, I googled it and was directed here

'Please don't contact the teeth whitening company as they will not know about it' - hmm, wonder why.

Think I'll reply to it with the URL from this forum
• i felt for this scam too. can not forgive myself for beeing so stupid. grrr i have ordered bright white yesterday and once i receive my order confirmation i got suspisiuos, email came from donotreply@donotreply.com, this email alerted me, then i have tried to ring UK number given in the email and surprise surprise its not valid number. then i google it and i was directed to this site. thank you everybody for your advices, i phoned staright away to my bank and cancelled myHSBC card, however £2.86 already was waiting to be taken and my bank advisor advised me that she can not stop this transaction as i authorizied it. I was told to monitor my account they could not guarantee no further payments will be taken after my card cancelation. i got really upset and i told that i don't wish to bank with a bank if you can not protect me from fraudsters like this so i asked for my account to be closed. obviuosly then lady explained that if money will be taken from my account i will be able to dispute it and money will be paid back to me. i have managed to get trough american phone number today and after very very long strict conversation finally was sent an email to cancel my order. i have to wait 24 hours to get another email confirming that my order was canceled. fingers crossed i have managed to stop them for future payments. lesson learnt if it is too good to be truth its a spam.
• I signed up inadvisedly to the Acai Max Cleanse trial, then read about it on this site and called to cancel the subscription. I believe there are several products being sold in a similar way by the same company under different names.

I used 0844 869 9700 to enable me to call the USA for 1p a minute. Plenty of other numbers will offer this too.

I called 0018887879668 as the customer support line which I found through this website.

The line was very, very quiet and I could only make out a small amount of what was said to me. It was a 13 minute call with quite some time on hold before speaking to someone.

I repeatedly stated 'I am cancelling within the trial period' and 'I do not authorise you to take any further payments', also 'I can't hear you clearly but I expect an email to be sent to confirm that I wish to cancel the trial.'

An email was sent to me and was in my inbox by the time I got upstairs to check. It was from donotreply at donotreply.com titled 'Important Order Modification Information' and contained a link to cancelsite dot com /ct and the information for me to include on the form. The form needed to be completed mostly in lower case and without spaces between words for it to be accepted. Following this, a page at yourordersupport dot com/thankyou.html was displayed to say 'Thankyou for your submission' 'One of our customer service representatives will send you email confirmation for you to keep for your records. I then got an email to my junk mail folder which appeared to have come from my own email address entitled 'Cancellation From: … ' followed by my order number. This email restated the text on the cancel site page and most of the information I had submitted.

I called back to confirm that the trial had been cancelled. I could hear the person more clearly this time. They kept mishearing my account number but with persistence I communicated it accurately and was informed that it may take four hours for a cancellation to be processed on their system and show up on their records.

I was slightly surprised and unnerved to receive the sample in the post eight days after requesting (and then cancelling the trial on the same day) but on calling the above number to clarify my situation it was confirmed that I had cancelled the trial and would not be sent any additional products.

I have checked my bank account and two payments £2.55 (four days after I initiated the trial) and £2.54 the day after had been taken out and one refunded £2.42 two days after this. The figures didn't match which I guess may be the exchange rate changing.

A search for EST on google will tell you what time it is in Eastern Time, offices open from 9.00 am until 6.00pm Eastern time.

I wish you success.

Kind regards
• I just received an ofeer of teeth whitening from Choice White, yet again, like all the others, it offers product for £2.95, but charges are hidden, incl £7.00 p+p, terms & condition as posted below, and further payments on a subscraiption basis. I fell for one of these earliry this year as my daughter had pestered me to get her a whitening kit. I got stung for a total of £342 and tried to cliam back through my credit card, but they refused as they said it was a valid contract The compnaies then were called Bright White and Crystal Smile, I eventually tracked them down to an address in Manchester. I sent a letter of complaint, and eventually received a standard letter back from the Official Receiver, detailing malpractice, dubious trading methods and suspicions of fraud, aslo mentioning the Consumer Credit Act. This I forwared to my credit card company who gave in and reimbursed me in full. Don't be fooled, but if you are, keep kicking and punching.

• everybody, i joined MyGroupOn and sometimes they have discounted prices for in house (at west end dentist surgery) laser teeth whitening. Its not as cheap as £3.99 (the one ive booked is for £89), but certainly a lot less hassle. I know people have googled teeth whitening and ended up on this thread so I thought that this info might be of some help to someone somewhere.
• I too have been scammed this week, no way to get in touch or cancel, wish I had seen your warnings. Their name is choicewhite just in case anyone else is thinking of replying to one.I have contacted my bank so hope they can refund payments already taken, but at least they say no more payments can be taken thank goodness. I feel so silly as I'm usually quite careful, but it's true saying if it seems too good to be true it probably is.

Ads are still running for the choicewhite.com scam (Choice White)

Example of ad hosted on bnmla.com by engagebdr.com and appearing on various websites (I saw it on ehow.com):

b5d1b92a697a7dd4334ff44775152750.jpg

Leads to fake news site: theconsumerreporter.co.uk

There is an identical site to choicewhite called selectwhiteteeth.com whose SSL Cert is secure.dwellant.com which belongs to: CoDwellers.com Ltd

Melbourne House
27-29, Collingham Road

You could also contact eukhost who host both the choice white and select white teeth websites and complain about them hosting websites for scammers: https://support.eukhost.com/ 0808 262 0255

• The thing to remember about acai berry, etc is that if te trial is free why do they insist on a cc. Insist on chargebacks though and keep hounding your cc company until you get one

:j:T:T:T:jHi there just a quick update on the extreme white scam,as i posted earlier in week have been really worried arter ordering and not reading terms ect,I know i am not the only one but still feel stupid.Anyway decided to email abbeys customer services and told them my worries and they advised me to cancel my card and request a new one which is what i have done.I am returning trial kit tomorrow and have emailed to cancel,i also got offerd a chance to keep order for a one off payment of £30 , which i declined. Now my debit card has been cancelled i have been assured that they have no longer have access to my account as my new card will have different niumber ect,i would advise anybody who orderd using a debit card to do the same, the inconvience of not having a debit card for a few days is so worth it knowing that extreme white can not take money as and when they want. The peace of mind is gret after a couple of stressful days trying to solve this problem, although i have learnt a very valuable lesson when giving bank details to unknow sources.:Also they have only billed my debit card for delivery charges of £3.99,and because they no longer have my details they cannot get the £59.99 that alot of people have already been conned out of,i dont know how it works wit credit cards, but with debit just CANCEL your card with your bank, because the bank cannot stop individual payments to companies, ding this will not affect any direcr debits or standing orders you already have set up on your account.you just wont have a cash card for a few days.

I got the same problem as u and I stopped the card just in time cos as soon as I paid for the shipping, the bank automatically rang me on my mobile asking if I purchased a product for £100 from Cyprus- I said hell no! the bank then said but u entered the trial for this product, I said Yes but I thought it was only £3.99- I'm not paying for £100. The bank said I have to cancel this card and will get a new bank card within 5 days.... After 3 days, I received a product and the next day I sent it back with recorded del. I hope they won't charge me monthly like they do to other ppl. STUPID ME. I'm normally careful about buying stuff from the internet. Big mistake!:(
• My father was also affected by this scam. This is what we have found so far.

The Gleamify product is supplied by:
CYC Marketing Limited
0845 603 6469

We called them and were able to confirm cancellation of future orders. We have not pushed for a refund because it is hard to prove they were misleading us.

The other product (which varies in name and payments are taken in both Euros and Dollars)
Coincrete (UK) Ltd
Rastrums Industrial Estate
Unit F
Harbour Road
Rye
East Sussex
TN31 7TE
01424 797979

We called them and they were VERY unhelpful. They confess to only being the distributor for the goods and are not involved in the sales process. They will also will not take calls regarding the product because their 'client' has not paid for the service!
We asked them for contact details of their client and they were very reticent, again repeating the same story that it's not their product and they are unable to provide customer service.

They also said that we would have received contact details when the order for the tooth whitening kits was first purchased. We obviously no longer have that and there is no paperwork in the envelope with the product when it arrives.

This company is protecting its client despite the fact they are ripping people off.

We have since spoken to consumer direct and have lodged a Fraud Report with 'Action Fraud'.

Barclays bank have also been very unhelpful on this matter stating that even if the bank account is closed we'll still be liable for future payments when the account is reopened!!!

Anyone else who can suggest steps forward to halt this scam would very welcome to share their knowledge. So far it seems like they are skirting the limits of the law by providing contact details in the first instance of order but then hiding their identity with orders to prevent cancellations.
