  • Like the rest of the posts, I too am very careful about siging up to these people. I have found that Tesco credit card has been fantastic and have refunded charges made. You have to inform your cc company the exact date that you contacted extreme white that you wished to terminate the contract. If you receive any more kits after that time, you can comfortably say that you have terminated the contract and that it is their choice to keep on sending you the items.

Tesco cc are now monitoring my account on a month by month basis and will challenge any more requests for money from this company.

These scams are often generated in the States (no offense to individuals here) so I will be much more guarded in future.

Well done to the person who sent it off to Trading Standards - I have mentioned Small Claims Court to extreme white and am probably prepared to do it - my values are well and truly offended!

  • Hi all i have also fallen for the online trickery, On Friday 13th nov i ordered what i thought was a "free sample" and whilst still on the site (within 2mins of ordering) i got a call from my ccc fraud department who asked if i had used my card recently i told them i was still on the site and what i was doing they said i had been charged $29 so i informed them of the product and the actual on line charge of $1.99 P&P, they then said they had to allow the transaction as i had agreed to there online T@Cs . i then asked them
Firstly why would they contact me so soon if they had not had lots of complaints they must have this company flagged, Secondly how would they know that the t@c's where on another page, I dident and i was on the site?
I asked them to cancel my card and stop all other attempts to take money from the account they said even if i closed my account they would still continue to hand out money if requested to do so, it was not a fraud issue but a dispute and i would have to get confirmation that i had cancelled
As i was still on the site i held an on line conversation with an operator and after 23 mins finally got a cancellation number and written confirmation that i had cancelled my "subscription" and no monies would be taken out, i also got two emails confirming i had cancelled. Today i have sent all this evidence to my ccc by recorded next day delivery. I hope this is the end of it but looking at the other posts on here i doubt it. I have also been looking on line at these people and if you google dazzle white all you seem to get is sites dedicated to slagging these people off, if we all know this and the authorities can get addresses then why cant they shut them down.
Any way i am off up to Durham to pay a visit to the address given for them have a chat with the employees up there if any.
    Good luck to you all
  • I ordered both Premium White and Alta White on the 17th November thru an advert in the on line Sun. Paid my P&P DIDN@T read the Ts and Cs and sat back. We are no on the 2nd December and I have received nothing. Yesterday I was charged £81 from Alta White so immediately cancelled my debit card thinking I had been scammed. After looking on the internet I realised I was part of a huge LEGAL rip off and rang to talk to the bank (Barclays) about what to do. Cancelling my card was a waste of time as apparently even when you do that they still can take money from your account as you have inadvertently agreed to an automatic subscription and the bank cannot stop the charge. You have to try to cancel from the subscribers end. I have managed to talk to Customer Services for Premium White and have been sent a cancellation email but they did tell me the money (£80ish from them as well) may well be taken out of my account as it’s too late to stop it. (SUPRISE SUPRISE)
Spoke to Alta White who said they will cancel all my details and email me confirmation of a refund (NEVER going to happen as I’ve seen this has been said to other victims)

I have asked the bank if I close my account would that work and they have said no as the bank would honour the payment and come after me for the bad debt! – Is this really true? I’m not sure so will peruse at branch level with someone senior.

It's horrendous and I don't know how to stop it. The bank has issued cancellation notices against each company but they take 31 days so you’re not covered there. They also told me that if the products don't turn up you can try to claim through the Visa chargeback system all banks should be able to do this but I'm not holding out much hope of seeing any money returned.

I'm not sure if they continue to take money every month - does anyone know? Is it a one off scam or does it go on? - really stressing me out as I hope this is as bad as it gets and I'm just going to be stung for the £190 and no more - any ideas???

Yes, it's possible they will continue to take various amounts every month using various different names and companies. See: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1781301

If you have not received anything, get your bank to do a chargeback on the basis that the goods ordered were never received - see advice here

  • The advert was misleading and nearly £90 in one month was taken out of my account, even tho' I'd had a virtual conversation on the advertising site stating that if they intended taking money from my account, they should cancel the free trial - they said no, nothing like that would happen, but it did. My bank were brilliant, they put me through to their fraud squad, and have said they'll retrieve all monies paid, cancel my card and reissue another, and they'll send me a declaration to sign so that no more monies will be taken from my account. I can't understand why these companies are allowed to get away with this.

  • Hi
I have fallen for the dazzle white scam. They have taken over a hundred pound as i did not see a transaction until it was too late and didn't get any refund, for the first £50 odd. The second one i have returned i had to ring the company to get the address, i returned the item but still no refund, i have rung again and they have said i will have the money back in my account after 5-7 working days. today i have notidced £15.75 taken from my account by "The fit club" which i am guessing is another scam contected to the dazzle white. Has anyone else had this problem with "fit club" i have no contact number for them. If anyone could help so that i can resolve this i will be grateful.

    hi

consumer contracts that contain unfair terms are not enforceable, see site:

    consumerdirect.gov.uk/before_you_buy/think_of/unfair-contracts

there is a statutory cooling off period of 7 days after goods have been received, see site:

    businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/detail?type=RESOURCES&itemId=1073792577

and if you can't get money back from the company or via your credit card provider then you can put in a small claim, see site:

    hmcourts-service.gov.uk/onlineservices/mcol/index.htm

    cheers

    mark

p.s. however, Business to Business contracts can be unfair AND there is no statutory cooling-off period. nevertheless, if you have been deliberately deceived then you can sue under 'the tort of deceit'.
