Ask them how £20 reflects actual losses incurred.
  • Hello. A few weeks ago my son was driving my car and acquired a ticket from TPS. I wrote to say I was not liable as I was not the driver and they have responded by saying "We reserve the right under the civil proceedings rules to request the court to make an order for the disclosure of the driver". It's alright saying "ignore them" but can they do this?

In a word ..... no. They are using scary techo jargon to try and scare you into saying who was driving or paying the invoice. There's no such process. There is a similar process for CRIMINAL cases but this is a civil case. Ignore, ignore and ignore again - and stop speaking to them.
All aboard the Gus Bus !

The highest Judge in the land could not force you to disclose the name of the driver. They could bang you up for contempt till you did or they got fed up asking, but you still would not have to tell them:D

These companies do however like to use statements meant to intimidate people.

County court can make no such order.
  • Have had a similar issue with TPS as those mentioning on here. I was parked there over the time limit (not my fault, a local garage parked my car there for collection) and they do have a photo of my car. Shall I still ignore?? Does it make any difference that they have a photo with the times?

Funny thing is they previously sent me a letter saying it had been overturned (the garage contacted the Pets at Home shop whose car park it was) and they apologised for the inconvenience. Then a couple weeks later I get a letter from Debt Recovery Plus saying I owe them a rediculous amount! Thanks for any help....

Just read the up-to-date forum threads (I expect you stumbled across this 2010 thread by Googling?). There are threads every day about this scam:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

Start with 'PPC letters, what to expect' (to give you a preview of what to expect next from DRP to file in your ignore drawer) and then 'WELCOME, please read before posting' and make sure you watch the Watchdog link there. Then browse through any threads like this one, everyone is told to IGNORE everything and it will just go away like a desperate phishing email series fizzling out.

There was no need to get the Garage to contact Pets at Home, the fake PCN is a scam best ignored and the letter-chain is part of that.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • My daughter got 'done' in a car park in Wrexham. She did not see the sign at the entrance and then there no more signs (that she could see) in the car park. She got a fine letter and then wrote back (genuinely) stating the above. Since then she has gone back to University and now received two more letters - now saying that legal action will follow.

I have not passed either of these other letters on to her because she has enough pressures at Uni (including financial) without this !!!!!!!!! I have written back to TPS stating that she has not received the last two letters.

I am going to fight this tooth and nail - even if me that ends up in court. That will include the press and the stupid shops that use their services.

    Fight on!!!!
