  • Nowt much going on here.... Sainsburys card has put an extra £1k on my limit - thanks for that :D

Still waiting for the cheque to clear for OH's driving license, wish it would hurry up because its costing loads for OH to go by train.... which means the debt is still slowly going up, although I have re-adjusted the budgets, so do have some money to put towards it

Thats it really...... there's a reason why I don't update very often! Lol

    Hi Sarah!
Just read through, you sound to be doing great - and are very cheerful with it! :T

Any joy with the potty training? My first DD was a shocker, it took forever. With no:2 I just let her get on with it - far less stressful!

Keep the positive vibes going - I'll pop back for inspiration :)
  • I gave up on the potty training after 7 days :o DS is brilliant at tellling you after he's been, but rubbish at telling you he needs to go. First of all I thought he had a disliking to the potty because he did a wee on the loo at my Mums. So we stopped with the potty and went straight to the loo seat... One day he sat there for ten minutes reading his book..... then ran into the bedroom and peed on the floor. Even at nursery with the other kids going to the loo he wasn't interested! I'll try again in the next couple of months :)

  • Hi Sarah,

Glad to see and update and things are going ok. Shame oh's license is taking forever  Will you have two cars in the family then or are you hoping to just run one? I wouldnt worry about the potty training, they say boys learn slower then the girls anyway. As long as you arent too stressed about it I would say let it be :D

    Have a great weekend :T

Glad OH is better at work now! Hope his licence is sorted soon.
Sorry but had to laugh at your MIL suggesting Secret Santa after you've bought all the pressies! We do SS for the extended family but I still have to buy for close family..... and kids.....and grandmothers!

  • Still waiting for MiL to do the SS... she said she's gonna do it this weekend  I think she's worried that I have spent loads of money on presents for everyone:rotfl:because I'd told her that I'd nearly finished. I hadn't actually spent alot, not more than I budgetted anyway :D

I've got about half way through my list of jobs for the day, I would probably be done by now if I concentrated just on that, but I'm very tired after only 5 hrs sleep and really can't be fussed at the minute. Have put away the laundry mountain though, as DS decided it would be fun to 'climb the mountain' :o and while doing that, I was thinking about OH....
I really think he's starting to come round to the MSE way more and more each day, although its still a very very slow process. He's still taking food to work after 4 weeks of being at the new store, and hasn't moaned once about a) what he's taking or b) the fact that he's taking food. When I suggested it to him before he moved stores, I was shot down in flames!! He took some chicken out of the freezer the night before last, and actually made two meals out of it (normally he would have 4 chicken breasts to himself:eek:). He made fajitas for when I got home, then made a curry for today! I was scared enough that he was cooking but the fact that he had thought ahead to today aswell sent me into a spin :)
He's also become alot more accepting of things.... there's a lot of Basics stuff in our cupboards which doesn't seem to bother him, meaning I don't have to hide things. He's also happily using own brand toothpaste, and shower gel (although I do stil decant into an old Radox bottle because the own brand ones leak!). The only thing he has specified is that he doesn't want own brand/Basics crisps or chocolate to take to work. Personally I can't see the difference, but I'm happy to concede to buying branded crisps if it keeps him taking food to work!! And besides, I only usually buy the ones on offer... ie yesterday I bought Quavers/Monster munch BOGOF and Walkers BOGOF, so we now have enough crisps to last until Christmas I think!!!
Feeling quietly positive about him, he's not going out as much as he used to either..... just wish his blimming licence will hurry up!!!

Good news about OH, I know that feeling of relief when you see that things are starting to sink in. I think once they can see the benefits for themselves is when they start to see it's worth it, and I also think seeing their good ladies adhering to a DFW lifestyle and managing okay lets them see it's not *that* bad really, you can still eat lunch on a budget but have branded crisps (after my OH's heart there!:D)

  • I’m back, although I haven’t really been away, its been a long time since I posted here, so here’s an update of sorts – just for you PaP ;)

Money: Money stuff is not too bad atm, the debt hasn’t gone up as I’d saved for Christmas and bought bits throughout the year….. Although MiL decided that we were going to do a Secret Santa AFTER I’d bought most of the gifts, but the upside of that is that I now have a lot of birthday presents sorted for the year :D This year I won’t buy gifts throughout the year as we’ve already agreed that we will do Secret Santa again next year, but I will keep saving money each month as that worked really well.
Its ‘free rent’ month this month (gotta love 4 weekly pay!) so I will have some extra money off the debts J Just need to figure out what other DDs will be ‘free’ this month, before pay day on Thurs – looking forward to that PAD! I reckon I should be on for just over £950, providing OH’s pay is ok. Just need to figure out where to put it… I’m torn between the overdraft and the Egg card. If I put it on the Egg card, I should clear that by the end of the promo period, then hopefully they will give me another promo and I can shift the £3900 on the Sainsburys card onto it. My overdraft is currently sat at approx -£760 (£1k limit, 1st £250 int free)….. well I say that, actually for the majority of the month I am in credit, its only when the rent goes out that it goes that low. Last months ‘charge’ for my OD was 72p, so I’m thinking that taking it off one of the cards is a better idea!

Work is work, been very busy due to Christmas, but has been great fun! Had yesterday and today off for Christmas, and have three days off over New Year, so will be looking forward to that!

OH is signed off work again atm, but this time its serious! He has preliminarily (sp?) been diagnosed with Hypertension, so is going to have to wear a 24hour heart monitor and do blood test etc until they can figure out what is going on – hopefully it will be sorted and he will be back at work before his sick pay runs out!! Still waiting to hear back about his licence, will have to get him to chase it once the festive season is out the way!

Connor is full of himself as always! He loved opening his presents yesterday, and got loads again as predicted! I still have to go over to my Dads today, and to see my Mum and Sister next week (was meant to go to Sister’s in Cambridge at the weekend but the weather hampered that idea!) so he will have a few more gifts to open yet I’m sure! I didn’t go mad, got most of his stuff from work (25% of clothes plus some half price toys, add 15% staff discount = very happy child and stress free Mummy :D )

Other stuff: Not much else to tell really… still PADing every day, have re-joined the sealed pot challenge, need to catch up with where we are with the Grocery challenge and NSDs…. And the house is a mess again! I will take a look at Flylady and try to get going on there in the new year, and OH decided (rightly!) that we also need to look at re-decorating in the new year, as we haven’t done it for three years and its starting to look shabby again! I love decorating, but equally hate it! Lol!

That’s kinda it, I promised me friend that I would update more regularly, so I will!
