I do need to put up or shut up, same as you, but do you find that a lot of the time you don't bother because it will either fall on deaf ears, or will just cause you more grief in the long run? :o

It would result in a row, then a day or two of sulking (by both of us, we're both stubborn :D), resentment runs deep in me and when something irritates me, I can't let go. Then when he does do something positive I pick it apart  maybe I'm the problem :rotfl:

Maybe we'll have to find the solution together then :D

If you pick up any pearls of wisdom, please let me know! :D

Oh so sorry to read of further hassles. I hope that a happy medium can be reached without further induced stress.

Well I've just been looking at the train times, which are fine, then the bus time when he gets to Swindon.... to where he needs to get to, there is no bus after 1830.... and he doesn't start work til 2100 :rotfl:then on Friday and Saurday, there is one extra bus, but that doesn't get in until 2230! Getting home is not such a problem, the buses run at good times every day except Sunday.
I will have to tell OH this when he gets up, and get him to call the regional mgr. I don't think he will mind going once he knows he can get there, so they might have to wait until he gets his licence back.... but that in itself causes childcare issues, as we will both need the car at the same time:confused: Arrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

    Hiya
That seems really unreasonable and uncompassionate of your OH's employers. I think he should definitely speak to his superior to see if they change do anything on that.

  • Well its nice to see that the regular updates are still happening:rotfl:

So what has happened since last time...? Well, OH started at Swindon tonight! He's actually fairly pleased to be there (so he tells me!) and it has made he re-apply for his licence, which is good :)

Was sent last Thursday (OH's middle name is lastminute .com!) so don't expect that we will hear anything for at least a week. That means hes going on the train... Gonna be expensive, but until he gets his licence back, thats the way its gotta be. After that there's still fuel/adding him to my insurance and whatever else, but I'll deal with that when we get more info...

My debt has increased by about £500, because I have transferred OH's Egg onto my Sainsburys card at 4.9% lob... he's been paying £50 a month off (well I have, but its his money) so I know it will be paid off. Overall, the household debt has only increased by the BT fee, which was only £22 :)
Otherwise money stuff is going ok, not sure what the budgets are gonna look like until OH's licence is sorted and we know how much fuel per month will be used, so we're just 'going with it' until we have definate figures. The good news is that fuel is 4p per litre cheaper in Swindon, so I have got OH a Sainsburys gift card that he can use to buy fuel with, and I am converting all my Nectar points into cash for the card. Also, OH reckons that he won't be going out as much, and when he does, won't be drinking as much (he may even drive sometimes!) so that will save money... and he's agreed to tale food to work with him:eek::D I did have to concede to buying some branded products but that will cost me way less than the £5-£10 a day he can spend on food while at work, so I don't mind too much.

Talking of the car, I was driving back from Swindon on Friday when I heard a squeak from under the bonnet. By the time I got home, the steering was really heavy and making a horrid noise. Graham the mechanic came on Saturday and said the power steering fluid was leaking from somewhere, and as I'd only had the car 3 months, I should take it back to the garage. So today OH and I trundled off to the Ford garage we bought it from, ready for a fight..... only to find we were one day inside our 3 month warranty. We didn't know we had a three month warranty!:D So, I've got to limp back on Wednesday and they will fit a new hose, new pump and clean the wheels/brakes/drive belt where the fluid leaked onto those as well :D Must remember to ask my lovely Daddy to pick me up and take me back :A

Have nearly finished my Christmas shopping... only for MiL to suggest we do a secret Santa this year!!!:money: That was my idea last year and no one went for it:mad::mad: Hopefully I'll get someone I've already bought for, then I can use the other prezzies for birthdays next year

So thats about it really, kinda stuck in limbo land, but feeling good about it. I know the debt will go up again this month because of OH's train fares, but I'm feeling positive overall so thats good :D

Lets see how long it lasts:rotfl:

  • Well the debt is still going up slowly:eek: - OH is having to use my CC to buy his train tickets as neither of us have any money left :o Been a really bad month debt wise, but I'm ok because theres nothing I can do about the extra expenditure until OH gets his licence back. He may have got that back sooner if I'd have remembered to sign the cheque I sent  but hey ho. Of course, because of the postal strike, everything is taking three times as long!

On a positive note, OH seems to be ok at the new store, and is even taking food to work with him each night - and eating it!! Clearly he's drinking too much fizzy pop as he gets through 4-6 cans a night.... but I'd rather be buying out of the grocery budget than him spending 50p+ per can from the vendor at work. The only compromise I had to make was no own brand crisps - again a small price to pay, as the £3.69 it costs to buy 24 bags of Walkers crisps is less than he would pay for some food in one night! Just need to make sure I keep it varied for him, he said he'd take pasta/sauce too.

Won £5 and 20p on double scratch day so that takes me close to pay out. May have to look into the free bingo as it seems to be making people some good money, but not sure if I have the time to do it...

Payday on Friday, and not a moment too soon! Must re-do the budgets to accomodate the extra train/fuel money, and look again at the snowball which has not been updated for a while :o

1st of the month brings rent/council tax/ electric DDs although the electric must be going tomorrow as it hasn't left yet. Once they have all left, that will let me see where my OD is sat currently - it's not being snowballed becase I'm focussing on trying to get rid of the CCs first, but I do monitor it to make sure its not going up! Any spare money from the bills DD (I round up to the nearest £1) stays in there so it should be very very slowly being paid off. Last pay day it was at -£600 (limit is £1k) and its sat at just above -£500 atm, so should reduce slightly :)

Been looking at the calendar in the diary, and worked out that as we get paid twice in Jan (1st and 29th), I will be able to have an extra £750 rent + £143.09 loan payment + £132 CT payment off the debt :D then another £132 for the next two months (CT paid over 10 months) so thats good. Need to just double check the CT though, as I chuffed up a bit last year and paid 4 CT payments off the debt instead of 3 :o

Thats it for now me thinks :)

Seems like things are pretty workable at the moment then.....not perfect, but not too bad, all things considered.
