I called them for confirmation ref opting out via the E-Mail link a few weeks ago and according to there records i was being transfered to the fixed 2010 deal, they seemed to have either been ignoreing the E-Mail link or it simply didn't work, which of course was to there advantage, no wonder there customers are just sick and tired of all there under the counter goings on and just want out.
They even gave me the estimated figures to Online Saver 6 so they knew I was coming off the fixed rate.
What kind of a company are they?
Looks like another phone call tomorrow, good job I have the 0800 number.
Would suggest that ALL Scottish Power customers (?) check to see what Rate they are on0 -
EDF will contact you when they are about to take over the supply to get your meter reading. they will supply that reading to Scottish Power, who will produce your final bill based on that reading, EDF will then start your supply, using that reading as their start reading, you will not have any loss of supply during the process - don't know about the contract, check what you signed up for, and then phone them, threaten them with ofgem if they inist on a cancellation charge, all energy companies react to that threat as it screws up their customer service stats lol0

Thanks very much, I will contact Scottish Power. I think this has backfired on them spectacularly!
too many comps..not enough time!0 -
I've just found the Scottish Power email and opted out. I will double check it's been actioned and if not complain..
Scottish Power you have lost a few customers here!

I've had the email below from SP which confirms I have opted out of Capped Price Energy 2010 and I will be moved to "standard monthly Direct Debit prices" from Sept 1st.
However, my account is now showing "Online Energy Capped Rate"
I presume it's just taking a few days to action all the change over details.
At least the email is evidence that I have requested to be taken off the Capped deal, so I will not incur any charges when my switch to EDF takes place during the next few weeks.
By the way, the EDF TopCashBack has reduced to £40 from 01/09/09
"We recently sent you an email to let you know your Fixed Price Energy Offer ends on 31st August 2009 and we would automatically move you to Capped Price Energy 2010* on 1st September 2009.
However, you told us you wanted to opt out of this new deal and move to our standard monthly Direct Debit prices^ instead of capping your prices until 31st August 2010. On 1st September 2009 this transfer will take place.
Another great deal just for you
At ScottishPower we're committed to trying to bring you our best deals. And, although having the reassurance of capped rates wasn't the right deal for you, there are other offers available.
For example, as you're happy to manage your account online, our Online Energy Saver 6 offer is 3% cheaper than the standard monthly Direct Debit prices that you will shortly be moved to - and will remain so until; 31st July 2010."0 -
I received a letter from SP prior to my deal ending. I used the tear off strip to opt out of the new deal.
When I checked my account yesterday it was showing that I was on the new capped deal.
I pm'd Graig (SP Rep on here) and he replied with a few minutes. He said that they had received my request and I was due to be batched overnight last night.
But just to be sure he had manually changed it to the standard tariff anyway.
I have checked today and it is indeed showing as a standard tariff.
Good on ya Craig!
Yesterday teatime I had a call from a nice lady at SP noting that I had opted to the standard tariff and asking if I needed any help in finding a new one.
I did express an interest in their Online Saver 6 but wouldn't commit to it yet.
Using the comparison sites it seems I could save £300 by moving to a non economy 7 tariff. So I also asked if I could go onto a non Economy 7 tariff even though I have an E7 meter. She said this wasn't possible without a meter change.
Thats a real shame because I quite like Scottish Power and the only reason I would move is for a cheaper price (especially if its £300 less and who wouldn't!!)
I like the way their online stuff works. I have never had any hassle with CS and Craig is good to his word.
It seem like all energy companies are much the same and its human nature that we only hear the bad bits.0 -
I received an email on 21st August confirming that I had opted out of the capped deal saying that they would make the change after 31st August so that I wouldn't be penalised for switching out of the fixed price deal early.
I have just been on the web site to check on whether my account is still comfortably in credit to find that it says I'M ON THE CAPPED DEAL!!
I suppose I'll have to PM Craig too!! It really is a pain in the a**e
EDIT; Big thanks to Craig who responded within minutes to my PM - My tariff should show correctly tomorrow - now to swich to a cheaper deal!!0 -
argghhhhhh, same here! Opted out, received another email to say that I had opted out and offered another Tariff. Didn't apply, even requested a confirmation that I had opted out. Hey presto, account updated today with Online Energy - Capped Rate
I've already applied to switch to EDF, so do I just leave it on the capped rate and switch as Im aware we have until Sept 30th to change our minds anyway, or do I sign into my account and manually change it to the standard Tariff, or just phone them?
I've had nothing but problems with SP since moving over to them last year, I was even being billed for someone else's gas even though I gave them the correct Gas Meter Number, put me on the wrong tarriff at the beginning, kept putting up my DD even though I was in credit, arrggghhh! So glad to be moving.0 -
rushal, I wouldn't let it ride in case your switch to EDF takes longer than 30th Sept (there must be thousands of households switching out of SP to other suppliers currently); Craig told me they are updating customers details in batches - if it isn't correct by tomorrow I suggest you PM Craig with your accouynt details to check the situation.
Don't think you can change the tariff manually thru' website??0 -
You have an option to 'Change My Service' to a different tariff within your account, so I did consider changing to the Standard plan that way.
I actually started the switch on the 13th August so I should here from EDF anytime regarding a switch over date. I've received my contract details already, just waiting for a switch over date now, although Im not to hopeful this will go smoothly from the past experiences of SP!
EDIT: Is it me or do these Fixed Rate/Capped Rate with Exit Fee's seem to be very unpopular this year considering most of us went onto them last year?0
