I've been following this thread with interest and EDF Online 5 is mentioned a lot. I've just been to their website to look at prices in my area and using an old bill have worked out that it would have saved me £40 on that quarter.
But here is a quote from their website.
This tariff is not available to prepayment customers or to customers with an Economy 7 meter.
Well I have a fairly new (fitted last year) night/day digital meter. Hasn't every one got economy 7 these days???
I suppose that means, as all good Dragons say.............. I'M OUT0 -
Sorry joe134 your last sentence seems to have got lost in translation!!!! I think it reads that you would be better off with EDF?
I get frustrated with comparison sites as they all seem to give a different answer. They don't seem to have the correct (SP) plan that you are already on to use as the comparison (as you have pointed out above)
I have been going to each providers site and getting their tariffs (if they provide them!!) and use an old bill to work out what it would cost on that tariff. Then compare it to what it actually cost. Bit long winded but you get there.
I have briefly looked at EDF online v5.1 but there is no night rate for electricity. Can that be right? I haven't done the math yet.
The SP Online Saver 6 seems to be the best for me so far.0 -
This is what I got on email. Does this mean, I have until 30 september to opt out, or to air on the side of caution, just opt out before the end of August?
"Option to opt out"
"If you don't want to protect your prices and would prefer to move to our standard monthly Direct Debit prices please tell us before 30th September 2009.
Standard monthly Direct Debit prices are currently the same rates as Capped Price Energy September 2010 prices and could go up as well as down."Not been in here for years. Life got hectic!0 -
You will get a letter shortly. You get until 30th September to opt out of the capped price which will then put you on the standard tariff.
The standard tariff can go up as well as down. The capped tariff can only go down. (at this point in time they are the same price).
My email also says that I can swap to any SP tariff before 13th October with no cancellation fees.
If you stay on the capped tariff and then swap to another supplier after 1st September you will pay the £50 cancellation fee. If you opt out to the standard tariff then swap supplier there is no cancellation fee.
Hope that helps.0 -
Well I've just taken the plunge, applied for EDF v5 deal via Topcashback site, opted out of SP fixed price 2010 (by clicking the E-Mail link) a few days ago, so that's it, no going back now, job done and all that.0

Applied through Topcashback on Friday, money hasn't tracked yet, but maybe we have overloaded the systemYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

It looks like a lot of people are swapping to EDf, and it does look to be a good deal.
Am I correct in thinking that none of you are on Economy 7 (night rate) electricity at the moment?0 -

I think you're correct, when you're on economy 7 it's a different ball game I'm sure i seen a thread earlier on someone elses thread concerning economy 7 something about it being cheaper if you look for a supplier with cheap electric then go with another for the gas and split it up, could be feasable, but you would have to do your sums i'm afraid. and see what is best for you.0 -
guys i done my changeover to EDF on the 13th august via topcashback, how long does it take to track as mines not showing at all,the site states could take 7 days but that seems a bit long to me,anyone got theres tracking already?0
