I phoned to check about economy 7 meters being banned, and they were definite about that. I'm sure they actually meant to say that only economy 7 tariffs were not available, but its got somehow changed, banning economy 7 meters makes no sense at all.0

I've just read the whole thread and it seems the sensible thing to do is opt out as that leaves the door open to switch post 1st September without penalty.
As I'm an Electricity only customer my choices are somewhat limited but it seems British Gas Websaver 3 or EDF Online V5 are my best bets at the moment. Need to double check the tariffs though......If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -

I emailed EDF and here's the reply I got;
"I can confirm that once you sign your contract with EDF Energy we allow a 12 day cooling off period before contacting your current supplier. Therefore to ensure you receive no charges I would not advise you to sign over until 20 August 2009, however I must inform you that the tariff subject to availability and maybe withdrawn at anytime.
Kind Regards
Emma Watkins
EDF Energy"
I decide to act now anyway, & signed up yesterday. Now just waiting to see if it tracks!
Edit: went directly to TCB site after posting this, &, lo & behold, it's tracked already!0 -
Thanks for that.. 20th is only 2 days away so I'll hold fire... Hoping the deal will still be there!
I'm getting quotes for my heating oil as well and that's come down a little this week... should I buy or wait...?
If I knew the answers, I wouldn't be typing this I'd be on a beach sipping cocktails!If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -
Hi,I have also just clicked the "no fixed september " button , gonna wait a fewdays to double check EDF,s and SP,s offers.I have never used Topcashback, don,t even recall seeing it on Martins tips? What,s the tracking thing you are all on about? SP must be getting quite worried, they rang me yesterday , on 0141, Glasgow number, I rang back, answerphone saying they had rang me, if I want to know why ring 0845,good innit: They have offered me "freshstart", it,s not generally advertised, for over 60,s. It,s 5% below standard and is guaranteed to always match there lowest price plan no matter how one pays:Thinking about it.0

Hi Guy,s, I have just phoned EDF this minute, he states that v5 is the best deal,BUT, once you click on to sign, you are on contract with them, they are warning SP customers like us BEWARE of the£50 penalty charge.Officially there is no grace period although they may not contact SP for several days, once you have clicked you have changed, unless you change your mind and stay put. He said wait until 1st sept and see if v5 is still available , then switch, the other tariffs are not worth the change over. As he said , you click and take your chance, I intend to wait0

But hasn't the official Scottish Power reprasentative already stated that we will not be charged if the completion of transfer is after end August? And if it takes 4-8 weeks to switch then surely we should be safe?0
