Those are some very nasty interest rates there.

If possible, talk to hubby about getting a new credit card that is doing a 0% promotional offer. Hopefully you can get a decent balance to transfer some of the high APR debt and clear a card, then you may be able to get a balance transfer offer with that cleared card to clear another one etc.

Have any of the cards you had been offerring a low interest for life of balance (LOB) transfer?

I realise this still leaves you short for payments, but the LOB minimum payments are usually lower than the usual 3% that other cards require. The Virgin Credit Card is offerring 0% for 16 months and 1% minimum monthly payment - i know you have an MBNA card, but if hubby doesn't, you may be able to use this.

Does the above take into account hubby's debts or cards too?

Not sure if you have thought about changing the mortgage to interest only if it isn't so already - this may allow you to throw more at the debts for a few months and possibly clear one of the cards.

Hubby said same about interest rates, we don't think I can get anything better due to a poor credit rating. Mortgage was fixed rate for 10 years which was term of mortgage. 7 1/2 years and it's paid off, plus will get some money off an endowment a year after that. Don't know if hubby would be prepared to stick debt in his name on a 0% card, will pluck up courage and ask.

Hi, hope everyone is having a good day. Firstly I used energy helpline to change provider with cashback offer and secondly been out round the shops today and didn't spend a penny, would normally never go out without spending, this is the new and improved me. Realised I don't need things cause i got family around me.

Hi everyone, have spoken to someone at cccs who have taken down all my details and they came up with a figure of £428 for repayments to creditors which is an amount I can actually repay. I don't think I had missed anything when i did it online but obviously being a bit dim I had. I knew there was no way I could afford over £600 in payments. Was told that they would email info for me to look at and that I could call back tomoz to say if I think this is best solution for me (probably my only solution).
Feeling positive for first time in a week.:D
Before I go, will claiming bank charges, credit card charges and ppis affect whether creditors will accept offers, and what happens if they refuse offers cccs make?

If they refuse the CCCS offers, then there's not much they can do about it.
They can't get what you don't have.

If they start on the phones, refuse to answer any security questions and send one of the template letters asking them to stop. If they continue to make the calls after 2 months, report them the the regulstory bodies.

Sorry for picking up this thread late on, one thing I noticed was your MBNA interest rate. MBNA recently wopped my interest rate up to 29.9% and I called them to query this. They agreed to reduce my rate to 20.9% provided the stop the card and I make payments to pay back the balance I owe on it. This has dropped my monthly payments by £50 which means I am getting more of the balance down. My debts amount due to studying for 3 years but know I'm working I hope to never use a credit card again so I'm happy for MBNA to cancel the card and once the balanec is paid, it's gone forever which I'll be happy with. Might be worth speaking with them to see if they can do something similar for you.
