How does this conflict? September hasn't started yet, it's still only August, so Derek was right there. He also said it would be during the next 6 to 18 months, not starting in 6 to 18 months. If they start issuing them next month (September) as Ulsterbank have told you, it will still take at least 6 to 18 months to roll them out completely, just like Derek told you. You haven't been given any conflicting information.0 -
The roll-out of changing the Maestro and Solo cards will be taking place over the next 18 months, your cards will still be the same until either your card is replaced due to the expiry date OR you lose or have your card stolen or require a new one in which case, it will more than likely be a VISA Debit card. Pretty much every bank is changing over to VISA Debit in the next 24 months.0

RBS Group are in process, A&L/Abbey which are under the Santander branding already are, HBOS and Lloyds are VISA Debit or will be, Barclays already issue VISA Debit, HSBC have replaced all their cards. Plus I work for one of those banks and know very good friends in most of the UK banks.I believe the only one who will remain with Maestro is Clydesdale / Yorkshire Bank. However they may also change their provider of cards.0

hi guys
i just opened new joint bank account with rbs
and was informed the card i get is new visa debit :j:D
will add photo of card when it comes;)0 -
I have noticed the staff are getting a bit confused, they are calling the replacement for the SOLO an Electron rather than realising this is a different card and they will be issuing an all-authorisation (Electronic) Visa Debit. But First Reserve Customers are definitely getting one.0

Only new accounts opening from next Monday get issued with Visa Debits.
For anyone else wanting one before the natural replacement of the card; if you ask for a replacement card for one that's 'damaged' after Monday you will also be issued with one.0 -
