ive just been lookin at some of the sellers other free listings and item number
    320405234917

still says in the text about adding postage yet he wants immediate payment.... how does that work

i reckon he accepts a lower offer and then tries to get the 3.99 postage out the buyer

i wouldnt pay ebay clearly state that certain cats have to have free postage and sellers cant decide otherwise and ignore ebay t&cs, if they want to sell on ebay they need to abided by ebays terrms if they dont want to get off ebay

I have tried to bite my tongue for the remainder of the thread, and I apologise that it had been covered in a previous thread.

Anyway, thanks to sunnysea83 for finally spotting something that I had missed. The whole category (Xbox 360 accessories) appears to be a free postage category for UK sellers. Therefore no english buyer should be paying postage for ANY item listed in that category..full stop. So therefore it appears that Ebay cant side against me?

Interestingly, the seller agreed with my suggestion that I should contact Ebay. Clearly my mail got through to a numpty as the response was...

When a bid is placed, the bidder is entering into an agreement with the
seller to purchase the item, which most often means incurring postage
charges that may also include packaging fees.

I would encourage you to try and work this out with the seller. Usually
these situations can be amicably resolved. However Robert, refusing to
purchase an item may result in an Unpaid Item strike against your
    account.

So now Ebay are threatening me with a strike for refusing to pay postage on a free postage item.
    Be nice

dont worry the seller can open case, but you then need to put in the payment details via paypal (even if he refunds you) and then if he closes giving you a strict you appeal it sending ebay a copy of the email header and text from paypal showing payment.

the listing clearly states free postage in the postage details os all you need to pay is you winning bid.

i would neg the seller if you dont get your item
  • Any seller that attempts to add P&P in a free category will end up getting neg feedback, low stars and, in the end, fewer sales so they end up destroying their own business practice.

You've paid and if they refund it doesn't make you a non payer. If they try and raise a NPB against you send paypal your transaction details immediately and insist the dispute be closed. Interestingly opening an NPB on a buyer that has paid is considered an abuse of the system by ebay and reporting it to them may get another warning on the sellers performance dashboard.

    So postage costs you nothing?

The trouble with "free" postage being forced on British people by a large and greedy American company is that there is no such thing as free postage, somebody has to pay for it, so sellers just add it to the cost of the item, but they have to add a bit more to cover the extra % that ebay now get.

So net result UK consumers pay more, American company gets even more.

Some people here too simple to not realise what's going on, support greedy American company and accuse British sellers who just want to sell stuff and charge postage as being scammers.

Next question for brain washed ebay appologists, what happens when customers decide to return their items under distance selling rules?

I assume you have to return the full price including the "free" postage?

Thus meaning you don't get to knock off the shipping element?

Why people are so happy to support Ebay gradually putting them out of business is a mystery to me...

    So much for money saving......

Whether or not I agree with "free" postage is irrevelent, the simple fact is if that if I choose to sell I ebay in certain categories I have to offer it.

I can choose not to sell on ebay so if I choose to I cannot then moan about the rules as I except them when I choose to use their platform.

Some choose to set up their own websites, that's their choice and a choice I'm currently investigating ahead of the PS changes.

You ebay sellers should have some backbone.

Unfair terms and conditions cannot be upheld.

A good company listens to it's customers.

Even you said ebay wasn't good. If you don't like them, why do you use them?
