Hi, I bought this item.. 320405234917
The item stated "postage Free P&P", and the auto paypal payment took just the item cost. However, the seller has added "postage cost only £3.99" in the body of his description, and has now requested this from me. I actually searched for free P&P items.
What is the right answer here please?

Tell the seller to !!!! off, basically. They listed with free P+P and they have to honour it. If they don't send the item, neg them and file a Non-performing seller report.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

Pay for it through ebay, so without the added postage. If the seller refunds he then cant report you for non payment. If he refuses to sell put a claim in for non receipt after 7 days and neg them.
He cant add postage on in the text if its stated free postage.0 -
I have had this problem twice when buying PS3 games recently.
Twice they've included P&P cost in their T&Cs which I never bother to read as they mean nowt.
Twice they've not sent the games saying then their T&Cs mean that can charge and twice I've reported it via the PS portal as NPS and twice ebay have NRU'd.
Beware "someone" coming on and telling you that it's merely feeding ebays greed and that sellers T&Cs over rule ebays as he has "issues" and is spouting bolloxs.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -

Yep, sound advice.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -
I already have paid the £26.99 as soon as I bought the item via Ebay / paypal, and no postage was required. I have tried to politely inform him that I shouldnt be paying, but I have yet to hear backBe nice0

I had this same issue with a DVD the other dat but it was new ebayer who was a bit dim and couldnt work out why they couldnt add postage. They sent it in the end0 -
It may well just be a sellers mistake, but I would have just sent it and taken the hit if I was him.Be nice0

I've just looked at your seller. In his other items he does the same thing. Except for a couple where he states that the postage is included in the price. So he knows the rules. He's just trying to get around them so I doubt its a mistake.0

The seller has come back and told me that I have to pay it as it was listed in the text. (although he has offered me a refund).
Personally, I would prefer the item that I have won fair and square
I have also sent a link to this thread so that the seller can see other peoples opinions. I have also offered to contact Ebay to ask whether adding P&P into the text is within their rules.Be nice0 -
It is not within ebay rules and if seller does not send your item after a reasonable amount of time then open a full paypal chargeback for item not received. If seller refunds you and refuses to sell then consider your feedback options..a negative might be considered appropriate in that instance..although don't do anything until seller makes his next move.make sure you word any feedbakc carefull, you won't it to put off other buyers rather than just be out of spite. A simple 'sellers adds additional charges at auction end' or 'seller refuses to sell unless I pay more' will put a lot of buyers off.
Also report sellers other auctions where additional postage is required, although if seller is aware of this thread and has any sense he will pre empt any problems by revising his auctions quickly.
EDIT: I think other auctions have already been adjusted to comply so maybe seller realises now how precarious his ebay career is?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
