Ridiculous as this is, it's health and safety.
Basically, the cafe people don't know exactly what's in the sauce from shopfloor & hence the insurance won't cover them if someone has a reaction/

Same thing with the cleaners- If they run out of the supplied stuff, they can't use anything from the shopfloor.

well at sainsburys they pop into the shop and come back with stuff, it's all labelled up correctly and is obviously safe to eat as it's the same stuff you buy so i dont understand your reasoning on that point

But the sauce the cafe supply is HP so they could just use HP off the shelves.

so basically you threw a strop over a sachet of sauce !!!

when there is a supermarket attached with shelves of brown sauce I think its reasonable to wonder why they couldnt provide something lots of people want;)

Is your signature a warning about yourself?

There are certain meals I wouldn't eat without sauce (eg bacon sarnie without ketchup), why pay for something you don't want?

That post confused me too as I've seen them in my local Asda buy off the shop floor for the cafe. That is before they moved everything around and got rid of the cafe for a larger George section.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

OP, why didn't you go and buy a bottle of sauce yourself?

I did consider it but decided I would be better going to get some Pork and Blackpudding sausages from Asda and make my own brekkie and use some of the 8 bottles of sauce at home.

    It's a long story how I came to have 8 bottles :o

I don't know how it works at Morrisons, but a few years ago something similar happened at a Tesco Cafe while I was there, and they said that they couldn't just get stuff from Tesco shopfloor, because the cafe wasn't actually owned by Tesco. It was a franchise, and they had to get their supplies from their authorised supplier.

Hate Morrisons, it's a boring supermarket anyway.

    So other supermarkets are interesting?
