How do I broach bill-splitting when dining out with friends?

I recall going out with some friends a few years ago to a Chinese buffet, set menu. We all bought and paid for our own drinks from the bar and all tossed in the £8 for the meal because we are good like that lol

On the next table was a group of about 15 students, at the end of the meal a massive argument ensued because it appeared that one of them hadnt paid their £8 and none of them would admit it was them. The manager and I assume lecturer were still arguing about it as we left.

I guess its easy to deny in a big group.

I went out on a hen night meal...couldn't eat as had my brace tightened and my mouth was thumping and it was some kind of taco place....I don't really drink so had 2 cokes....price...£33!!!....never again!...oh that was including a sash and a badge!!!lol
