  • We are using ppl at the moment and I have too agree that it has been a quite negative experience as they are difficult to contact and not very competent. The whole experience has been very stressful.

We completed last month using PPL through Housenetwork. All went smoothly and we saved a fortune.
I have had more problems using solicitors on some of my other sales.
I think most of the negative stuff comes from people who have no experience of using internet based companies or people with a vested interest.
  • I used Premier Property Lawyers for a move in August last year and they were
fantastic. Online tracking - open late for calls (8pm I think) and if you
can't get your handler the person who answers (always quickly) has access to all the notes and can help.

The conveyencer stayed late on the day of exchange to ensure it went through
and we moved 3 days later.

Couldn't fault them for my move and worth the £ paid.

Obviously it depends on who you get to deal with your case, but my experience was good.

    Adam.
  • Well my experience with is quite mixed. It seems to have alot to do with the case handler.

My first experience was ok but in my second experience we had a person who kept telling us that everything was ok for a month and that we had to wait for the seller's sollicitor to come back to us.

We kept calling him and he kept repeating this. After a month or so, we tried to call the seller solicitor ourselves and we realized that Premier Property Lawyer were just calling the wrong number for a month !

Now we might lose the property ! If you get someone called Kavi as case handler ask to get someone else asap !

Used PPL; had mixed feelings about them. There's always someone to answer your queries.

Just be careful with their charges as these were not clear to me. They can charge you for additional work that was not mentioned in their quotation, but are listed in their T&C's. It's only right in the middle of the process that they tell you there's some xtra work and hence xtra cost (that you originally thought did not apply to you); but then it's too late to change conveyancer.

    Hi guys,
I've been reading forum posts on this site for ages and it's been really helpful so I decided to stop lurking and actually post something.

I'm in the middle of the homebuying process now (first time - it's really scary). I used London and Country mortgage brokers cos of their sponsorship of the mortgage guide on this site. They recommend MyHomeMove (Premier Property Lawyers Ltd). Why the two names? No idea. Anyway, I went with the recommendation so here is my review so far...

    1. It did seem quite hard to find out who my named case worker was at the start - but I did get reasonable info when I called up and gave the property address.
    2. They sent a text with their contact details and progress of the case can be accessed online - good
    3. I do have to call to get info when I want it, but they also contact me when they need to. - OK
    4. My named case worker seems knowledgeable, she's not very friendly but who cares, as long as she does the job right - will wait and see and post update
    5. They send a starter pack and then the ID request and then a bunch of other things individually which seems unnecessary. I've not used other conveyancers, but it does seem a bit wasteful.

    That's all folks

PS - Their terms and conditions state a whole bunch of extra costs in small print (from money transfer to ID checks) so I'm sure the bill will be more than their quote. Also the original quote was based on a different property and they couldn't be bothered to change it for ages.
  • I used PPL for my house sale last September and it all went very smoothly. As others have said, they answer the phone and keep you informed at each step whereas lin the past ocal solicitors have generally ignored calls and only contacted me when they wanted something (usually money).

Buying or selling a home is stressful and it certainly helped me to be able to check status on the web site as often as I wanted, and sometimes chase myself by asking the estate agent to let the buyer know information was needed.

I'm glad Timmy the Troll has figured out how to post in red ink (it's usually green for that kind of vitriol Tim) but the comments don't help because there is no indication that it is anything other than prejudice. Better to listen to the people who have first hand experience, either good or bad.

My experience was good, and I will use them again for my purchase - but I will request the same case handler. I'm not concerned about having a case handler as a first point of contact because I'm not under any illusions that a conveyance would be handled by a real solicitor in a local firm. It is all delegated to their admins and the most the lawyer will do is check the final contract - perhaps. Either way you will be dealing with a legal clerk up untill the exchange of contacts, so you may as well have one who keeps you informed and answers the phone.
  • I'm using PPL for a house purchase at the moment. 2 months in and too late to switch to a proper firm of Solicitors. Not impressed with them at all. Wouldn't use them again and wouldn't recommend them to others.
  • I'm using PPL at the moment. So far, so good (*touch wood!!*). We made an offer on a property on 9th September, Instructed PPL on 10th September and looks like we will exchange this week!! Am really impressed with the speed and ease so far.

My only gripe so far is that they spelt the vendors name wrong on the stamp duty form. However, they corrected this super quickly as soon as I called them.

It looks like they can be very hit and miss though. I will definitely post a full review of them when we get to completion but so far they are better than Countrywide who I used last time I bought a house.
  • We used Premier Property Lawyers, they are a bucket shop that run under many different names, and based in Leicester. They not only over charged, by charging for things they didn't need to, but they lost documents and blamed us for the loss. Trying to get a factual completion statement out of them seemed beyond their comprehension. They completed on a re-mortgage very early and seemed generally not to know what was going on, they actual tell you what you want to hear regardless of the facts. We actually did most of the telephoning to find out if anything was happening, yes they did keep in contact, but were not proactive at all in their approach. Subsequently they took the best part of 5 months to complete our sale and purchase. I wouldn't use them again and if anyone reading this is thinking of it then buyer beware, I don't believe you are getting what you pay for in this instance, you are best approaching your local people to illicit a decent deal, at least then you can pitch up on their doorstep when it all seems to be going horribly wrong.
