Is there a professional body that they can be reported to. They are not just incompetent, but professionally corrupt.
They are not messing up sales of cans of beans, but people's homes; they need to be stopped.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -
Yes, using them for my purchase which should complete end Jan/beginning of Feb. my experience thus far has been great but I imagine it depends on who you get allocated. The quote was good, the person I'm dealing with has requested a mountain of information from the sellers and has been "on" everything before I've had a chance to bring it to her attention. I've received regular updates and texts to let me know if there's anything that needs my attention. Everything is done online or by phone so everything is emailed or scanned. For me, so far so good.0

If you want expert service GO ELSE WHERE ! They've lost paperwork, not done the basic searches despite being paid to do them 7 weeks ago ! Failed to communicate and reply when they said they would. NEVER take responsibility for THEIR mistakes ! You never get the same person. The whole experience has been a nightmare and taken twice as long as it should do. They have the attitude of doing things when it suits them, tell you one stage is completed then weeks later tell you they need to do it again as they missed something. Incompetent doesn't even come close to describe them. When you complain, or try to, you get the usual smokescreen. Will be taking them to Court to answer for their costly mistakes.0

I'm sorry about your experience Andy! We used them to purchase but I think we were VERY VERY lucky with the case worker we had even though they changed case worker halfway through the stage with no advance notice. Our case worker was very hard to reach and I was getting heat from both EA and indirectly from vendors solicitor.
During enquiries they got sent information/correspondence which they failed to pass on so we would chase EA and vendors solicitor who would get annoyed as Premier Property Lawyers already had the documents!
Problem is that their business model is HIGH VOLUME, LOW COST which means MINIMAL staff. I feel sorry for the case workers who are overloaded with 5 or 6 cases. But it is the people at the top (the conveyancers) who are responsible for this mess!0 -
I'm a solicitor and have dealt with Premier on the other side and they were so slow they nearly caused a lot of difficulty for my client. My colleagues who do residential property hate them for the same reason. I think they may jeopardise some people's house moves with their slowness so I wouldn't risk it personally. I would say if you want to save money use an online estate agent but use a proper local solicitor as they are the ones doing the running.0

That's lucky (that they lost documents and were hard to reach)?
Agree they are high volume and low cost, but not cheap as my buyer paid them more than I paid my conveyancer.Elizabeth_Williams wrote: »I'm a solicitor and have dealt with Premier on the other side and they were so slow they nearly caused a lot of difficulty for my client. My conveyancer had similar views.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -

I think you need to add a few noughts onto those figures. No solicitors firm would survive if they were dealing with those figures.0 -
Hi graym-m. I should have elaborated. We were lucky in that we were in no chain and we completed within 12 weeks (offer accepted on 24th August 2015, exchanged on 9th October and completed on 16th October 2015). Despite their incompetence we still managed to exchange and complete on the original dates agreed.
Yes alchemist each case worker probably have up to 15 cases each or so. But bear in mind there are about 50 of these case workers. When I was lucky enough to talk to case worker the conversation was very brief, and short, She always sounded stressed out and tense.0 -
Having been a FTB I decided to go with the estate agents recommended solicitors, PPL. I looked them up and came across this forum and others. For peace of mind I got a quote from the local solicitors who cover a wide range of services. I wasn't put off much initially.
Before the local solicitors got back to me with a quote, I decided to ring back PPL after they had tried ringing me earlier that day. (They left me a pleasant voicemail introducing themselves)
I rang them back over the course of about 4 hours in the afternoon and no one bothered to answer the main phone number! I had to double check my voicemails to see if I had the right number!
Needless to say this was an absolutely terrible first impression and was completely unacceptable. What use would they be if I had an ongoing case or an emergency and no one answers ?
I eventually got through after 6pm and after 'looking at my file' all they offered was a call back Monday, which never came.
I've now decided to cancel my contract with PPL and go with the local firm who have been around for decades, actually answer and are cheaper anyway. Funnily enough I tried to cancel after work (before 5pm) and they never answered again.
In my opinion the service of PPL seems to be sheer pot luck.
I've never been on this forum before but I thought it was worth sharing my short experience with them. Considering how important the buying process is, I didn't want to take my chances!0 -
I am losing my patience with these muppets.
They initially seemed fairly competent - sorted the draft contract out fairly quickly, sorted the enquiries, etc etc.
They have however made some kind of indiscernible error regarding the searches. They're claiming they ordered them on 25 January with a turnaround time of 10 days, 1 working day, and 24 hours for the 3 searches, but that mysteriously none of them are back yet. I really don't know whether they have actually ordered them.
They've ordered the searches via Searchflow- a separate company - who don't speak to the public.
I am really frustrated as this is now the main hindrance to things progressing any further.
Has anyone switched conveyancer partway through to get away from these jokers? Does it take a lot of time?0
