smelly hoovers

IF you can get them, Neutradol sachets are brilliant and last for about 3 emptyings (is that a word?!). Last got some in 99p shop but not seen them for a while. Completely neutralise that dog-hair smell, and no irritation to said dog, which you can get with the powder you shake on the carpet.0

I had the same problem no so long ago, mine made the house smell like very bad smelly feet! :lipsrseal I cleaned the filters and it was fine after thatComping again0 -
We washed out the filters on the hoover but the smell persisted. Definately wouldn't buy another Henry again as it's a horrible smell that gets puffed out the back of the vents when in use.
Doglet has a paddle in the local stream once a week so that keeps him free of any nasty doggy smells and I've been assured by several people that my house doesn't smell doggy - they are very honest and so would have no trouble in telling me if it was whiffy. The smell in the hoover isn't doggy as such, just very unpleasant.
I did wonder if we'd sucked up a small bit of water off the kitchen floor from near the dog bowl and this was causing the smell.2013: Interflora Vouchers, Christmas Decorations, NNUK goody bag, thermos flask, macwet gloves0 -
i have a bagless style hoover that smelt bad, but washed through the filters the other day and it's been fine since.....
maybe wash all the parts that you can, sprinkle it all with neutradol powder, and leave it out in the fresh air/sun on the next dry day to see if it helps...

you can get air freshners to put in hoover bags but I find them a bit strong. I've got a glade plug in refill in the back of the cupboard (had it for years but too strong for me)and I just dab a tiny bit of the liquid on a wee bit of cotton wool and pop it in the hoover bag (mine is bagless so just goes inside where the dirt collects) a nice essential oil would probably work too, just a teeny tiny bit is all you need though.0

When mine gets smelly I put essential oil straight on to the filter....always does the job for mine:)0

Oh no, ours doesn't normally smell doggy either (the house or the dog!), she has a swim in the sea most days and smells lovely:)
When I'm out of Neutradol sachets I notice it though, I think it's just the amount of hair in the small space of the hoover.
Am wondering if I could put some of the neutradol powder in a muslin bag or something like that...also wonder if bicarbonate of soda would help?0 -
It should get rid of the odour if you sprinkle it in the bag. Worth a try0

Hi mummyroysof3,
As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to the existing thread on smelly hoovers where you'll find lots more tips and advice.
