I can second the suggestion to wash the filters and then essential oil them. I do this from time to time and it certainly freshens things up. I find citrus oils (lemon & orange) particularly suitable.

Can you get the Dyson out in the sunshine for a few hours? that will help dry the little devil out.0

Be carefull with the essential oil. I used some on my old dustbuster filter and it melted it.0

MY OH decided to take the cylinder part off to empty, and clean it out. Evidently he didn't dry it properly, and everytime we hoover its smells. Mainly damp & dusty
I thought about cleaning it out again with soda crystals, or any other suggestions?
But do you think it could have affected the filter! Im no good with gadgets, Took me about 2yrs to realise the the pole extended (clean comments only please)

I dont have a dyson but mine has removable filters too. All I do is give it a flush through with clean water then a soak in hot water with zoflora, squeeze it out and put it on top of radiator to dry overnight.

hi there
I ahd a similar problem with my upright dyson. I had washed it all out and rinsed out the foam filters. they all dried well, but there some nooks and cranies I couldn't quite get 100% dry.
The smell went quite quickly, but I would suggest rinsing it all out again and letting it sit and dry out in 'bits' for a couple of days before putting it all back together.
If the smell won't go away I have used 'glade' sachets which help (that was before I was OS though) the best way is to put some essential oil on a cotton wool ball and pop it into the main cylinder.
Best of luck
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!

It works much better if you put a piece of tissue or kitchen paper with essential oils on under the filter. The effects last much longer.0
