Right - the dyson has now been dismantled - cleaned and is now standing in the outhouse to dry off for a couple of days before putting it back together. Ive also put a couple of drops of essential oil on the filters. Its certainly smells better than when I was washing them!

Will let you know the results.

    Many thanks again xxx

Just to let you know that Dyson have a free helpline 0800 279 5127. Open from 7am to 10pm. I never used to ring it when it was an 0870 number. They have been very useful and helpful when I have rung them with queries.

I have had a smelly dyson before and it was when i cleaned it, and didnt let it dry properly that made it smell.

I know, thats where the problem stemmed from, other half cleaning it & not allowing it to dry, but after some great advise, its now in pieces allowing sufficient drying time before I'll use it again.

The only thing I had a problem was - with getting the bottom filter off, (top one removed easily & cleaned) its an upright DC04 model. The bottom filter, seems to be attached. Ive put some essential oil on that, as it couldn't be removed at all to clean it. Just hope after all this hard work, that the filter (not washed) does not let me down!

I didnt realize until the warranty came to the end that I had bought insurance with Currys Coverplan particularly as I had no paperwork:confused:

So now I have to contact Currys to reimburse me for a service that should have been free! Anyone else had this problem?

I recently had a problem with my Dyson when the drum roller broke. I phoned them to see how much a replacement would cost, and they sent me one free of charge. I didn't take out the extended warranty, so was absolutely amazed.

I sent them an email to say thank you and tell them how impressed I was with their customer service.

Just as an add to, I use a drier sheet in mine to keep it smelling nice (last ages) or a few drops of essential oil, doesn't clog up the hoover like that vac stuff

    Hi mothersaver,

There's an older thread with some tips that should help so I've added your post to it to keep all the suggestions together.
