Anyone know if a bit of borax in the cylinder wold be ok? I thought that might be a good idea as it should absorb bad smells, and also kill dusmites.
Failing that - what about bicarb?
A few years someone (no, not me!) vacumed up quite a bit of cement dust with mine. As you can imagine it wrecked it ( i thought the motor was 'shot'. Called dyson who sent me a new 'cylinder' unit (the whole thing that you take to the bin) Although I have a washable filter that sits uder this part in the vacum apparently there is another filter in that 'cylinder' bit - so if any problems aren't resolved by washing the filter, or if anyone witha dyson notices a problem, it's well worth contacting the manufacturer.January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far

I will try to work it out.

Bother. Does it say why? I'd be inclined to try washing them anyway - if they fall apart, you're no worse off. Doubt it would impair the filtering capacity - if it did, I suspect they'd fall apart anyway.0 -

sprinkle some bicarb on the floor and hoover it up, takes a day or two, but usually works whenever my hoover gets smelly. if you mix it with some essential oil, it'll mask the smell whilst the bicarb works.£2 saver club 30th sept 198 £2 coins = £396(£350 banked)0

I've used a damp dyson before and it reeked, wash out the filters, dry them off and once they're dry essential oil them, (both sets of filters) I use olbas and it works a charm! HTHxxx0

You could try getting some Neutrodol Vac sacs. They sell them in poundland/99p stores and have 2 sacs in each pack.
Just put a pack into the dyson dust holder and each time you hoover the smell should be gone and it also makes ur carpets smell nice2
