Tesco Savings Loophole: Make £10 with £1 Savings

...It's taken me over TWO WEEKS to finally get all this set up. It's ridiculous!...
When I applied for an Internet Saver back in 2008, it took a lot longer then 2 weeks. By the time I'd finally got all the various "next stage" codes, internet banking card, PIN for internet banking card and card reader, (not to mention several 'phone calls because TPF kept sending letters saying none of the required forms had been returned to them - despite sending duplicates to them), several weeks' had passed from original application date.0 -
I tried to take part in the last offer like this, but the points offered were not actually added to my next statement. When I rang up I was reassured that I did qualify and that the points would be added to my next statement. Two statements followed without points. I rang Tesco again and was told that an advisor would return my call before 9 on Wednesday. I received no phone call and so had to ring them again. I have just been told that although I opened the account before the date they did not officially open the account until the day after the cut off point and so I wouldn't be receiving my points. Be careful of this scam. I am now waiting for a phone call back as I was obviously quite unhappy with their service. I'll keep you posted.0

Well, 2 lots of £3,000 duly deposited in time. Should be 2,000 points in May, although given the amount of delays in recent points credits (Nokia phones, DVD prepayments, refunds of unexpired vouchers, refunds of part-used vouchers - it's very difficult to keep track and make sure it all gets credited) I'll be watching closely.
Still not 100% convinced, even though I did confirm that as a CC+ holder I was still eligible for the points - this bit from the article in the header is what is nagging at me:
"The offer is open to new Tesco Savings customers only and is not available to customers who have opened a Tesco Savings account in the last 12 months."
i.e. the working assumption (by me and them) is that a Clubcard Plus account is not a savings account. Sharpened vitrol at the ready, should it be necessary...
Pal - any update on your issue?0 -
Point awarded (3,000) over the weekend. Never doubted them...

Points from Nov opening, Dec 31st money didn't arrive in Feb. Just rang up and it seems they have changed their policy to "any pre-existing customer isn't eligible".
Very strange then that MSE Dan got the official line of only has to be "a new customer to Instant Saver" (same as when I rang Nov to double-check). I pointed this out and the woman said she can't be responsible for what journalists say. Pointed out this was an official line from Tesco and read the quote to her. She still maintained that this was wrong and it's always been the case pre-existing customers aren't eligible. She blamed it all on an advisor giving out the wrong information.
Argued my case, and the woman agreed to send 2000 points in May, the original 1500 and 500 for the hassle. We'll see if it turns up - they're probably hoping I'll forget.
Honestly this is beginning to stink of a deliberate policy of saying one thing to get the money in and then weasling out of the points if possible. Ironically it just means that the money I was saving with them now gets moved to another provider...0 -
Please don't delete my message as this offer is another loophole from Tesco. Tesco is offering recommend a friend scheme where 2 people who send out a common form with the details of car insurance on it will both get 1000 bonus clubcard points for recommending. I have made quite a few friends who exchanged the info and both /of us got bonus points. Please let me know if you have got Tesco car insurance.0

Actually it should be removed and moved to the car insurance baord as this is for savings and investments, not insurance.0
